Mannequins come in handy while building: They help when hanging lights, choosing window heights and placing things on the walls. As long as you remember to sell when you're done (I keep the mannie in the front yard when not in use) you will be able to fully reimburse the simoleons.

I think being a gameplay and building simmer, you bring a very practical element to your builds. You watch speed builds and download these gorgeous houses but very quickly realise they are not optimised for gameplay (and no hate to the creators, I'm blown away by the talent in this community). I'm guilty of it too in my own game: building something just to look pretty or realistic to real life, but is a pain to play in. But you have struck a good balance of asthetics and functionality.

YES! I have learned so much from James about how to keep my builds “realistic” and visually nice while also playable. He’s always been the biggest influence on my sims building.

The house is great, but I really want to give you kudos for your landscaping in this video. As an ornamental gardener, I approve of the shrub borders you created around the perimeter of this lot, instead of fences, and without using formal hedges. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, it is a far more environmentally friendly and sustainable way to do this. The flora and fauna will greatly benefit from this method! Job well done, James!

The room at the top of the stairs is great for Scouts since you need the chess, crafting & science tables to earn badges. Adding a full length mirror in the house somewhere will help your Sims earn the “Keep Fit” badge with the “practice dancing” option. That’s the fastest way for kids to earn that badge - or possibly lap swimming.

I would love to change the formal dining room. I would knock out the wall between the living room/play space and the dining room, and then turn that dining space into the play space. It would connect the living room directly to the large bathroom/mudroom and give you more space to place the toys and kids stuff. It would also make sense for get togethers because the parents could have some separation from the playing children to talk and hang out while still having direct line of sight to the kids.

The nightlight you have above the bed in the cloud room, I know it's necessary for kids unless you want nightmares. But I tend to make it smaller and put it lower down on a wall, like an actual nightlight. It doesn't have any glitches changing its size with the bracket keys that I've noticed.

I like how instead of making every single item in one room match by pack or esthetic, you actually make it feel lived in and realistic. Like I can believe a family actually lives there. I did something similar with my first ever build of a home (all base game). I'd rather mix colors and esthetics than pretend that everyone has the same tastes in one household. Especially when you have kids. Your wall WILL be covered in drawings and science projects lol
