Choosing between a thesis & Non thesis master's degree can be very confusing for people aspiring to get into graduate school. I made this video to shed more light on the advantages and disadvantages of both route.

It actually applies to CS and Engineering as well.

@@AdelekeAugustus welcome 🙏🏿 and thanks for making the time to post. We missed you. Actually we just missed each other. Just some months ago I was heading to ncsu but then I got an offer from Maryland so that’s where I’m going now.😅

In Canada, the course-based Master's degrees are usually 1 year long, and the thesis-based Master's degrees are usually 2 years long. The average funding for a 2-year thesis-based Master's degree in Canada is approximately $2,000 per month. The thesis-based Master's degrees are in Science or Engineering subjects. The course-based Master's degrees do not have any funding and are usually done by students who have financial help from their parents. This is why thesis-based Master's degrees are extremely popular amongst the Indian, Pakistani, and Bangladeshi students! 😇

For those avoiding research, well you can’t hide for long. Because most MSc and MA either course based or research based will conduct some sort of research or project work. Graduate school is really not for the faint hearted. Question for Leke, is it possible to transition into a PhD program when you graduated from a masters program that was only course based?
@AdelekeAugustus3 жыл бұрын
Hi Benson, you’re right, graduate school isn’t for the faint hearted. Yes. Remember people go directly from undergrad into PhD with zero research experience. You just need to show that you’re capable of surviving the rigorous process that grad school entails, half of that you’ve done by taking the GRE and completing a graduate program. The other half is by finding the right program and establishing your reason in your statement of purpose.

Ade good morning from here.... Please I need your advice on something..... Is it possible to get admission study at undergraduate level.... or would you advice to get a bachelor's degree first before applying?
@AdelekeAugustus3 жыл бұрын
If you can afford the cost of US education for 4 years, then there is no harm in coming here for undergrad. It is quite expensive, I must say.

I have recently received an offer letter from a university in the United States. I completed master's degree in pharmacy. initially applied for a Ph.D. program at this institution. However, my application was redirected to a Master of Science (MS) non-thesis program, for which I have received an offer letter. I am currently grappling with the decision of whether to accept this offer. Additionally, I want to ask you can I work with professor in their lab, and can they provide fund? Your insights and guidance on these matters would be greatly appreciated.

I advice you send an email to the professor you intend to work with and ask them for possible funding opportunity.
