Justin thanks for all these videos, you are the man, at sketchup and a hero to us this is a great deed. I am learning this software and have been gradually for a few years now. It will be a big difference for me against my competition making oak framed buildings which is what i love to do. htis video has saved me loads of time trying to understand all these extensions that exist and what they can do. I have started learnign your free on line course from scratch again as my current models are such a mess in the default tray haha. it soon all goes upside down. with the correct grouping and components etc and knowing all the shortcuts i am getting much quicker and better at drawing up a timber framed structure. i know these things can be built super quickly watching you do your videos and made to look real which clients will love, (let alone drawing out what they want on skype in fron t of them live so we can adjust it all and not need to wait for an architect to take weeks to reply and do it all). when i make some money starting my business i will buy your course online nad get the full know how of it all. the wood ive got covered 100, i can make alot of things in terms of timber frames and accurately, so this combo will be so fun. god bless the time we live in with so many tools (power tools) and stuff like sketchup, depsite the crazy cost of everything haha hopefully i ll be free soon. thanks mate! and i just thought would it be possible to scan a clients garden / house area with a drone or something and get the base map on which the building will sit. they would love that

Great description of these extensions Justin! I use a most of these, Vali Architecture's has always been helpful to me. Have a great day!

Vali's stuff is legit - I'd love to seem them updated with a modernized interface, but VERY powerful! Have a good one Larry!

Maybe Curic have a large set of tools that are suitable for Architecture 3D modeling and 2D drawings with Layout. But maybe this Curic suite is too deep to include in this high quality selection of yours. SketchUpEssentials best channel ever ;)

I've used nearly every plugin in this list and most are indeed recommends. Medeek has been maybe my biggest game changer and the one I would recommend more than all others if doing architecture --- and I don't even really use if for the framing, construction or internal aspects. I only use it for rendering completed structures. It's especially useful in that it makes it easy to modify after the fact without redoing all the geometry manually. It's something like revit for SKP.

Agreed - I actually feel like it's probably one of the closest things that adds near BIM functionality to SketchUp. Not perfect, but very powerful

@@Thesketchupessentials and constantly improving (albeit a bit slow for my preferences...). The floor module is finally about to be released - which I'm looking forward to so then I would be able to completely create a house using medeek with nothing else.

Sublime. You reminded me of a few old ones I should reinstall like 1001 and a few new ones I'm going to check out ✔️ Next time add relative pricing like $$$ for flextools or $ for fredo6 to give a rough estimate to how expensive something is..
@johnjlopez2 ай бұрын
check medeek before you go flextools. I believe it also, or already did, do things to calculate costs. I recall medeek may have also integrated with a separate architecture plugin to do this but I can't recall the other plugin. I think it was condoc.

Hey Justin, been watching your channel for a while and love all the info you send out. One thing I can’t seem to figure out and I must be missing something obvious, is there a way to display the grayscale texture of a material on a surface when making viewpoints in layout? Like I send me elevations to layout but it seems I have to choose between a completely blank style without materials or fully colored style. Are there any extensions that make all materials grayscale and maybe lighten the material details. For example, I want to show the exterior walls have cladding, but don’t want to show the color. Is my only option to actually draw the cladding or stone

Is there a tool that creates cladding lines like recesses?

Actually 1001 Bit Tools has a feature for this - I think I talked about it in this video - kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKSldptvhrebgdk

Some of the extensions you've mentioned (lattice maker, TIG tools, Joint push pull, toposhaper, clothworks) do not show up on the skp warehouse. Any thoughts as to why? Or am i doing something wrong?
@ucheeke51103 ай бұрын
they are on their standalone websites, but there are references on how to visit these websites in the plugin manager

is there any extension to draw walls and openings similar or close to BIM softwares
@TS-mt6rm3 ай бұрын
There are no real BIM solutions that I know of as in parametric with assemblies. Closest thing would be Plusspec + designating the parts with IFC manually. There are also problems with the exports even when using the IFC manager, all though most can be fixed by using 3d party software like simplebim. All together Sketchup could be great for BIM, but it simply isnt.
@Thesketchupessentials3 ай бұрын
I'd say probably the closest right now would be PlusSpec or Medeek Wall. Medeek wall actually does a pretty good job of "smartifying" the walls in the project, though I do agree none of them are really "BIM" as much as just some assemblies with some smarts

@@lilnashe2340 learn to spell guy. I moved on from sketch up 12 years ago, looks exactly the same. Dated interface and performance. Have fun “sketching” I’ve found better options , I don’t have to be wrong or right , I just know better. .
