In their themes both piano and guitar are present. In Light's theme the piano is present but it never takes dominance over the guitar symbolising L being unable to beat Light. However in L's theme while the piano is the main instrument, eventually the guitar and piano clash over dominance with both sides taking dominance over the other a couple of times. eventually the song ends abruptly which symbolises L's sudden death.
