My question is, where are Zoe's parents when these 30 year old losers are hanging around their teenage daughter? Also, I officially think Zed is your worst character. He's hurtling towards full on abuse and it makes me so uncomfortable because it's so SUBTLE. He's such an incredibly realistic character as there are men out there who behave exactly like this and get away with it all the time. The veneer of alternative cool guy with high minded buzzwords to cover for his shitty behaviour is this guy's trademark.
@xdlr22
@xdlr22 Жыл бұрын
I would say more than Hurtling he IS abusive. Just not physically. But he’s controlling, manipulative, has double standards, isolates her… the whole shebang. She’s obviously brainwashed by him looking for some kind of recognition and love that she’s not getting. And he knows she’s desperate to please so he’s taking full advantage. And maybe the lack of Zoe’s parents actually speaks the most which is something I haven’t seen someone comment before. If her parents aren’t around much or don’t care about her then it’s obvious why she would be craving attention from someone who is emotionally unavailable or feels “exclusive” in a forbidden sense. That said, I do think her dad showed up in a video with her ex Brian before 🤔 so I’d like to get more of the scoop on her background tbh

If I were to guess, it’s that they disapprove of her choices, but also don’t want to come off as controlling. Not to mention Zoe is 18, so if they demand that she breaks up with him, there isn’t much they could do besides kick her out (straining their relationship and making her more dependent on her boyfriend.) I’m guessing that behind the scenes, they are asking Zoe questions about her relationship and giving advice, but she isn’t listening.

Yeah he really got me when he said “I can’t imagine you sleeping with random men every night” or whatever to that extent. He could’ve been concerned for so many other reasons but what really got him was the thought of Zoe with a bunch of men. Otherwise Elliott could’ve been a semi hero. I knew as soon as they mentioned being Poly that it really only applied to Zed and not her. 😒 I’ve seen it irl way too many times to count. In this scenario it’s just manipulating your partner into tolerating you cheating on them, but if you told Zoe that she would probably lose her mind. Doesn’t help that Zed mixes calling it out as misogynistic while he also “protects” her from other men. God I hate him so much.

they had me in the first half - i thought elliot's problem would be that zed was ignoring her. and it's super healthy for polyamorous people to make sure their partners are cool with adding another partner. but i ended up agreeing with elliot. plus zoe was being kind of mean to him. if somebody was like "my boyfriend said you can't have a beer so here's a juice box" i would set the juice down and go get my own drink

I really wish everyone on Earth was like these people. Wouldn't that be awesome? Imagine if everyone you knew, every family member, every friend you could possibly make, every child was destined to grow up no matter what they did to be just like this or worse.

I'm tempted to bump Zed up to second place here. He's a cumbrained degenerate, but he's more honest than the other two put together. Also Zoe is frankly better off with just Zed than Zed plus a handful other sexual predators. But out of all three she has absolutely no excuse here, she should know better than to be involved with either two.

The double standards in these comments are crazy. Elliot is young and naive and can change but Zoe is an adult and deserves this. Smh that’s the real misogyny here lol

Yeah it's pretty chilling. Apparently it's fine to be an incel at 18 because "you can change", no matter that 18 year olds are still capable of being abusive and horribly damaging other people and MOST 18 year olds have figured out how not to do that. But being a victim of abuse is an irredeemable character flaw. People just really hate women I guess.
