I went from N levels, ITE nitec to Poly and now working. Other than qualifications, your experience through the years makes up a good salary. People might say ITE is a waste of time, but honestly ever since secondary school I already know what I want to do hence I went straight to ITE. It was the best 2 years of my life. Met great friends and lecturers. After that go poly, same cycle but a higher standard of projects. After graduating, took a few months to work part time while refining portfolio, and now I'm working a full time doing what I like and prefer. Realistically the salary for fresh grads like me would be 2.3k to 2.5k, and that's because I'm single and it's enough for me other than spending on my hobbies and travelling lmao. The mindset of ITE is a waste of time is getting old. I didn't mind taking my time as long as I support myself and help ease some income for my family. Though in my opinion, to get comfortable without worrying about bills and needs would definitely be 5-6k and that depends whether or not one wants to upskill themselves.

Normally, I don’t chime in at all on any KZbin videos but some of the comments here are so discouraging that I thought I would share my two cents. A starting salary of $4-6k might sound high, but it’s definitely doable-even if you’re an ITE grad or under. I am an O level holder and I am, believe it or not making $10k+. I started my career from the very bottom, starting at a $1.6k job and worked my way up to where I am now in a course of 5-6 years. It is definitely possible.. Be patient and put in the work. What truly sets you apart is your work experience, how you carry yourself, having clarity on your goals, and knowing where you want to go in your career. I also know of friends who were from ITE making over $4k; it might not have been their first job, but they got there by not staying in one role too long and always looking for ways to level up and learn new skills. All the very best!

Some of these comments saying these people need a “reality check” are the ones that need to wake up. Everyone deserves to dream big, regardless of educational background. There are many opportunities to increase income, but that may mean needing to start a side hustle, personal business, or leave SG. As long as you work hard, it can be done. One thing’s for sure is, the losers commenting on youtube saying these people need a “reality check” will not make it big themselves, because they have accepted that fate is determined by the system.
