With a storm this size, it’s crazy to talk “direct paths”. Just because what was the eye doesn’t pass over you does NOT mean you miss the path of a stork like this. I’m a 4the generation Floridian who moved to NC 15 yrs ago to escape the craziness that had taken over what was my heritage. I’ve been through over a dozen hurricanes, even Cat 5 Andrew and Cat 4 Charley and what we have in NC is just as bad.

@BajaGirl302Ай бұрын
NC always seems to get hit with any and every storm! From ice storms to hurricanes and more!! That’s why I would never move there, well never say never, and if the eye passed over you, you wouldn’t get as much damage. It’s the outer bands that are nasty. There is more to these storms than people know and it will be apparent soon!!
@misha-elministries5246Ай бұрын
I remember Charley , after the storm past their was almost an instant calm and silence . I got up from a crouch in the middle of the house . I opened the front door and all I could hear was "crying" throughout the whole neighbor hood . It was very bad.

@BajaGirl302 i live in nc but close to the va border eastern and thankfully we did not get it bad but our neighboring counties unfortunately didn't get so lucky

The eye went straight over Knoxville! I was watching the radar periodically. It was wild! People in Florida saying “this happens all the time” well it doesn’t happen in the mountains!! Yes, pigeon forge/gatlinburg floods with just simple downpours of rain and mountain runoff. But the immense, widespread, over max capacity flooding of dams has never been seen here. Flooding was very common before the dams were built, but in their 70 years they’ve been built where I live, this has never happened. Not once. This was a massive hurricane. Its bands reached to Virginia for days before it made landfall and already began to bring rivers to flood levels.
