I sat down with Gallagher one time near his home and we talked for about a half hour. He was just naturally funny and very intelligent. You could tell just during normal conversation because the humor just came out of him while sitting there. Sad last years of his life, but I will always remember our talk and wish him RIP.

@@jasongoldman3850 It was a treat. We were standing in line to order and the employee was "Asian" shall we say. The employee looks at him and says "aren't you that comedy guy?" and Gallagher turns to me and says "Now they say we all look alike". Just a naturally funny guy.

I've been a huge Gallagher fan for the past 35 years, yet I've never seen the Thanksgiving skits before. So that was a real treat. Rest in peace, Gallagher.

I absolutely love the language bit. Some of my favorite comedians in the Netherlands really took our language and ran wild with it. Seeing it done in English fills me with just as much joy! Fantastic!

I saw Gallagher in Cleveland, OH. I don't remember the name of the place, but it was around 1986 or 87. He was doing his typical Sledge-O-Matic routine back then. Before the show started, he was standing there on stage watching people come in. A couple all dressed up, with the woman wearing a mink coat, were walking closer to the front. Gallagher said: Oh that's nice. Wear a mink coat to see Gallagher. It's going to get all F----ed up! It was a great show with his typical philosophical commentary. He was great.

I had the honour of some him live at the Phoenix Improv around’84. If we didn’t laugh loud enough for him he’d recited an absurd poem probably improvised as he snapped a steady beat with his fingers alternating hands. I don’t know if I’ve seen a better act ever. God bless Gallagher. 🕊

I got to see him live in 1992. I wasn't in "the splash zone" but 20 rows back, he still made a mess outta me! lol. Such an underrated comedian and wordsmith! RIP.

That's pretty good. English is notoriously inconsistent. There are exceptions to every rule. It's because English has been cobbled together from Old Anglo Saxon, Old Norse, French, German and Latin. Each brought its own set of rules and pronunciations. When he wasn't just smashing stuff with a sledgehammer, Gallagher had some good bits. He was on a game show back in the 80s called "Make Me Laugh." Contestants were sat down in front of a comedian. If they could resist laughing for 60 seconds they won. They could take the prize or try for a bigger prize if they were successful. It was pretty funny.
