Hello, As per the syllabus of IIT Roorkee only 60 marks questions are coming from sociology, 15 marks will be from General Aptitude and 25 marks will be from one additional subject which we will be chosen by aspirant at the time application.

No dear, there is no additional subject that you have to choose. If you want to appear in two paper then with sociology only option is statistics. Also the pattern is 15+25+60..15 is your General Aptitude which common to all, 25 is reading comprehension and reasoning.. 60 marks sociology.. total 100 marks..

Mam, except for MA/PhD admission, does GATE-Sociology have any other benefit??many PSUs recruit on GATE marks for Engg. students, but I havnt heard of any humanities student getting recruited based on GATE scores...can u plz tell...

It will be useful in future if let's say any research project comes or IIT also sometimes open vacancy for projects so that way it can be used.

No, there is no iit which provides ma in sociology. Gate sociology is the eligibility criteria to take admission in MA in development studies from IIT madras and MA in culture from IIT delhi.

There is no difference in pattern of the exam. You can give for MA also. No stipend is there.
