I'm just going to say MJF in real life sounds a lot like the character. Maybe that's just him working us and he got me. But let's look at the facts: Most of us never even heard his name before AEW. They've put him in there with their biggest established stars, he beat CM Punk in Chicago, and he is a guaranteed World Champion in the next 12-18 months tops. Now it's his turn to give Wardlow a needed win, after Wardlow helped get him over by playing the Deisel to his HBK, the Batista to his HHH. Tony Kahn made him more money than he's ever made before, and he's surely going to make even more going forward. Beyond that, if he goes to WWE, he will be the hot topic for about 3 months, until they start forcing him to read scripts, losing to people he's better than, and next thing you know, he's just a more talented Miz. Triple H may not mind if you aren't his creation, but Vince McMahon does. AJ Styles is the one unicorn that stayed AJ Styles and still broke the glass ceiling. So as a career move this is a huge risk, and on a personal level, the guy just seems like a douche. Want to make CM Punk money? Accomplish what he has. Become a name with star power beyond just the hard-core wrestling audience. The guy is not John Cena, at least right now he isn't. But he has boundless potential. Unless we find out some really horrible details about stuff that happened to him there, if it's just about money and push, then fuck him. They aren't gonna break that trust with the fans in a situation like that for an "angle" as unnecessary as that. That said baring the people that missed seeing him ofc (and the paying audience ig) the person I feel sorry for the most is Wardlow. That's Drew McIntyre winning the title in an empty warehouse level of sucky but in McIntyre's case at least he got that moment, itd be a big shame for Wardlow to miss out in his biggest moment because of something unrelated to him. No way Wardlow should get slotted in that position. He's not a world title contender yet. Just rule a forfeit in the ring, giving Wardlow a win and guarantees his contract. It's an official loss on MJF's record. Let Wardlow cut a promo calling MJF a p or whatever. The card is overloaded anyway. CM Punk wins the title and cuts a promo on Dynamite saying if MJF had won his match MJF would have gotten a title shot against Punk, but since he no showed he's out of luck and Wardlow gets a match against Punk instead. That's sending a message in the ring without burying the disgruntled talent and actually has a storyline reason.

TK comes out and says that the fans wanted to see him in action, So sense he's now a AEW talent he's going to have a match tonight and it'll be Wardlow vs CM Punk vs Hangman Adam Page for the AEW World title. Wardlow ends up winning the belt and the crowd eats it up. Wednesday Wardlow comes out with the title and starts thanking everyone. (Cue MJF's music) MJF comes out with his attorney and tells Wardlow that sense their match never officially took place, Wardlow is still under contract with him. And in his contract what ever title Wardlow wins he has to forfeit it to MJF. So he has to give the belt to him. Now we get MJF as World Champion with out having a match for it. And the fans are livid. He took away this feel good moment and leaves with Wardlow still under his control but also with the AEW Championship. Talk about nuclear fucking heat.

A real problem between MJF and Tony Khan is possible. Certainly more likely than the alternative. The idea that "It's all a work" fails on just as many counts as it being a real backstage issue. 1. MJF did this himself. Why? Pissing off fans even more to make himself "more hated?" What more hatred does he really need, given he's pretty much the only person in AEW who acts like this off camera (for better or worse)? Telling paying customers, "Yeah no. I'mma go gamble instead. See you Sunday." 2. Tony Khan and MJF both came up with the idea. That's even stupider. "Let's spice up this match with even more buzz cause "lol, people are smart, let's fuck with them in reality cause that' the only way to do kayfabe anymore?" The story has been "Batista v. HHH 2022," not "MJF needs more money." Tony signing off on this would signal to people, "Yeah...that stuff you spent $150 to see? We're just gonna...not do it. But you're totally gonna want to see MJF get his ass kicked more." Uh..no? Their jobs were to build to the match on their TV shows. No one really believes MJF's going to no-show the biggest match in months just cause "Lol, that would be so MJF." Refunds or showing off other wrestlers is fine and all, but why book MJF for a meet and greet in the first place just to pull a fast one on the internet AND paying customers? You would think, "Make a compelling feud where Wardlow wants to kick MJF's ass and people pay for it." would be enough. This incident has nothing to do with Wardlow, the build to said match, and just comes off as weird, regardless of the circumstances.

I wonder how much of this is "buyer's remorse". Like, he signed a 5-year deal in the early stages of the company's life (meanwhile, so many others at that time only signed 2-3 year deals). Granted, if he has the highest rated segments, and pushes tons of merch, and is a draw, he should be compensated as such, and there are reports that AEW is receptive to giving him an extension with higher pay. However, if he's not willing to sign that or even entertain contract talks until his expires, then that's on him, and stuff like this will only lower the amount of leverage he has in 2024. Like Solomonster said, if he burns this bridge, AEW won't be willing to counter WWE offers, and based on what happened with Austin, Sasha, Naomi, and others, WWE isn't big on walk-outs either (granted, this one is happening in a different company, but they'll still look at that and wonder just how reliable he can actually be).

If MJF wants that bidding war pissing off TK is not going to make it happen since WWE will feel less pressure to offer salaries close to their highest paid, male, contractors. MJF wants more money and he deserves it, however he should also be wrestling more. Bryan has been in the company less than him and he has more, if not a little bit less, matches under his belt than him. If he wants to be in WWE that badly and make shit load of money than they will make him work for it. He is not Lesner and Reigns.
@Youtube304s2 жыл бұрын
I understand his thought process. similar to the giant in wcw. you are in the thick of it but paid way less. Khan should up his pay as an olive branch for the future. 18 months is a long time to be on the cheap. however mcmahon is watching, so if he bails Mcmahon has more leverage on him in negotiations.

I will NEVER side with a billionaire owner over their employees, and I side with MJF. I understand that it’s very rare (but not unheard of!) to give somebody more money without them signing an extension, but I think MJF is a guy you make an exception for. He’s getting paid peanuts compared to talents in a similar position and he should be paid in accordance with his contributions to the company.

This whole situation between him & TK just so dumb like in what world does mjf think he’d get more money without having to sign anything lol like it’s really a shame cause Im a fan of his work but his antics getting outta hand, doing interviews without telling management anything (like why) no showing a meet & greet? Ridiculous now will he no show the ppv? Id think not cause Wardlow and MJF are cool so I’d like to think he wouldn’t do his friend dirty at a crucial time for him in his career.
