I love it that Billy is actually singing the song authentically, weathered voice and all. It’s gritty and real. The pre-recorded vocals he’s used in the past sound a bit ridiculous at this point. Reminds me a bit of David Gilmour’s recent performances. Both of them have had challenges with their singing voices but they are both masters of their craft and use what they have left brilliantly. Also, both are among the greatest guitarists in the history of rock music and both playing as good or better than ever, which is what we really want to hear.

@@Alienkiwi730 I just listened to all three repetitions of the chorus again. I’m not hearing it. Billy pretty obviously had some major vocal cord damage occur back in the 90s, probably from poor singing technique. That’s when he really started relying upon pre-recorded vocals for almost all of the songs in ZZ Top’s live performances. For example, I think the entire vocal track for all of the songs was prerecorded on the Antenna tour. His real singing voice has sounded pretty rough for a while. It has a cracking quality that cuts out a lot and sounds kind of like autotune at times. This performance sounds natural to me. During the most recent ZZ Top live shows, he seems to be singing several songs live, which is refreshing.

@@Phangmaster Yeah, saw them in South Australia when this was one of their new songs, I might has well just played the record. There was even rhythm guitar in the lead break. And!!!! I was way up in the nosebleeds and a laser zapped me in the eye and fkd it up for about a week! Rose Tattoo were excellent though, the experience of a lifetime. I guess that's a hard act to follow if you just want to lay back and use canned tracks.
