Beautiful make over😊Tell your landlord how awesome they are. If there are any Landlords out there , letting a tenant create their home is not only the right thing to do but it is good business. The best tenants are the ones that treat your property as if it was there own and want to create a “home” If they care enough to make a place special they will also be the type of tenant that will take care of it and want to stay. I rented for years and experienced every type of Landlord 😳I now own two rentals. My contract stipulates that make overs are welcomed after 3 months. That way I can make sure they are going to be a reliable tenant . If things go well then they are welcome to personalize or do makeovers. If they want to do makeovers, I have an additional page that I add to their contract that basically says they can do anything they want as long as they undo it , if I want them to, when and if they move out . I have never had any issues and have actually left some of the makeovers in place. 😊

The best part is when a tenant is moving out, shows the makeover to the landlord and asks, "Do you want me to put it back the way it was?" and the landlord realizes no, they can now charge a bit more rent because the DIYs were so well done.

I was around for some of my previously landlords’ showings when we were moving out of our place and the things that WE added to the space were the things everyone loved. We added so much value to their home and made what was essentially a walk out basement cave (they painted the entry ways and windowless den DARK GREY before we moved it) into a bright and welcoming home. It was really nice being able to actually live on our space for 3 years and not have to live with the slap-dash “this is what we have in the garage” choices they made when renovating 😂

Tips! The ö is more of an “er” sound with tongue in back in mouth. å is more of an O- it’s almost two syllables, starts with o sound with mouth in tight circle that then opens a bit. Ends up sounding like oh-wa. ä is more of an aah sound, like how Americans pronounce some a’s. Bonus- sj is pronounced more like “who” and rs is commonly pronounced as “sh” 😅 ikea names are most likely a random combination of words that don’t really make total sense or names of towns etc. I think the naming convention (used to be at least) bigger furniture items are named after cities and smaller items are like the random word descriptions.

7:18 I’ve had a few moments like this with the older rural people who loved to the city where I live…Thisis where I get into my secondhand proselytizing 😂 “it’s cheaper! It’s unique and not just something everyone has from IKEA! The items are more beautiful and have history! The items are better quality! I don’t feel guilty being a maximalist this way!” I’ve converted a few people and girl I’m SO proud of it 😂

The kitties are especially cute in this video! That paint technique turned out really well. A shower curtain hack I’ve found is 1) buy an inexpensive white shower curtain (which will be correct size and have holes for hooks in the right places) and then buy 4 yards of any fabric that can thrive in a humid space (sturdy cotton works great). Cut the fabric in half so you have 2 pieces of 3 x 6 cloth. Then pin the decorative fabric to try shower curtain so the design is on the inside and you have a 6 x 6 piece of fabric. Then sew the decorative fabric to the shower curtain like you’re making a giant pillow case. Flip the “pillow case” right side out and voila - a custom shower curtain.

Love your cats, they are so cute! I also did a lime wash affect on our fireplace with normal paint. A tip that I can give and what I did,use the exact same color but different finishes. Like I used a satin finish and a matt finish and did one coat satin finish and then one coat matt finish. that gives so much movement and texture and you can add and do more layers as you want. With black or white paint it's difficult to see the texture of effect,so doing different finnishes gives you that look 😊

I saw a (relatively) rent friendly cat hack featuring a cat tree in front of a framed rug, and a shelf with a hole in it. You would just need to secure the framed rug (or carpet remnant), and the shelf to the wall. Then your regular cat tree is placed in front of it, with the shelf hole over the top level of the cat tree, and the shelf is at a height the cats can access from the top level of the cat tree. They just scale the rug, pop in and out of the shelf, and run around freely. Doubles as a sound barrier, and a makes a great virtual meeting background! 😂

Rating the bathroom: 10/10🤩 it is unrecognizable from its' prior empty self! Regarding the blue on the walls however...I too have found from experiance that yellow and blue walls just have a very intensive vibe😂. Painted my bedroom in a more desaturated blue but still...after living with it for two years I got up one wekend and painted it soft white after which I sighed in relief😅. Yellow too..love it but for me it was just so...idk...introoding, piercing, not for every day.

Okay I'm kind of obsessed with this bathroom makeover. I too have a shower that just has a stationary glass partition and currently I just leave it as-is, but low key my bathroom (like Rachel's) is too small to have one of these to the effect they were trying to go for so water gets everywhere when the rainshower head is on. I've thought about putting up a shower curtain, but haven't because I wasn't sure how it would look. I honestly think this makeover was the inspo I needed lol.
