Both teams damned good, but Durham not so good on the arts. Those were the days when there were more literary questions, which meant I could answer far more than the usual 2-3.

Well, minimally Durham would have been tied at the gong if they had correctly identified Elton John and Kate Bush during the music bonus round - so let that be a lesson to them. I mean: Elton John, whatever, but the wonderful (and, more to the point, highly distinct) Kate Bush?! They should have also known Saussure. I also thought Paxman's intro of Durham was funny. Since, immediately after suggesting you might not want them to make you a cocktail, we cut to the team introducing themselves and I immediately thought to myself: definitely don't want a cocktail from one of these people.
