To clarify the Cryolator confusion, you can still get dogmeat to fetch it on PC. I just did it right before adding this comment. Started a new, unmodified game. I sent dogmeat in the room with the cryolator, closed the security door behind him with myself outside the room, then told him to fetch me an item. First try. No problems. Cryolator fetched.

I was motived to reinstall this, and seeing Spiff's suffering, I made sure everyone (ie Marcy Long) actually LEFT the Museum properly. Of course, right down the road behind the Deathclaw's spawn location, a car exploded and pushed itself a bit into the road. And, of course, the only NPC to try to path through the car was Marcy Long. She walked her into into the a dent that used to be the driver's door, and stood perfectly frozen in a little nook. It was a heck of a time to actually manage to push her free, watch her do laps alongside the car's trunk, before getting stuck again, then somehow miraculously becoming unstuck and leaving. I hate Marcy Long.

So don't know if you realise, been told or discovered for yourself, the bug with Macy Long is all because you left the foyer of the museum when they were still talking about what was happening as Macy has a line to state in that segment which is a check for the Sanctuary quest. If you hadn't been in a rush to leave the foyer it would have all worked out.

Hey Spiff (and anyone else who didn't know this), there is a hidden feature in terminals that can allow you to unlock them easily. If you hover over and find any open bracket/parenthesis combo (e.g. [ ], ( ), { }, ( / ), etc.), it removes any duds/false answers, up to four times if I recall correctly. This works for all terminals.

There's a common glitch with Preston where, if one of his group doesn't make it from the Museum of Freedom to Sanctuary, he won't do Preston things and you won't be able to interact with Sturgis. I usually Save/ Sleep at a house outside Concord, right after killing the Deathclaw but before going back into the Museum, so that there's a Save state to reload if this happens. You also might try traveling to the Museum, finding any stray NPCs, and boxing them to their senses.

You can also do a 0 hour nap if you start sleeping and immediately press Esc to wake up. It doesn't help in this stream though, due to the 1 life only rule.

@The Spiffing Brit There's a very easy way to solve the hacking minigame: if you move your cursor around in the "random symbol" part of the screen, you will notice that when you have a set of left and right parentheses, curly or square brackets on the same line, it marks them as if it was a word, if you click them, they remove one of the "dud" password options (there is usually one that resets the number of tries, but if you hunt around for all the available "clickies", you are left with either only one option, or less options than you have tries) this makes the minigame trivially easy even without bothering to look at the number of letters that match or not.

Just explore and stay away from Sanctuary for a few days, Preston can sort himself out sometimes on his own. As long as you didn't lose any of the group on the way to Sanctuary.

I love how the settlers always say it's enemies nearby and the map shows it's like 3000 miles away... They're like: "Can you help us? There's enemies threatening us nearby just around the corner." You check the quest log and it shows you have to travel through time and space to skyrim and defeat a dragon, but in order to do damage you have to install fallout 3 in order to reqruit fawkes.

Protip for future streams: NEVER take Toughness, it is a flat 10 damage Resistance. Instead, always have charisma 3, and take lone wanderer. That instead gives 15% damage reduction, which doesn't sound different but is WAAAAY less damage than what a piddly 10 DR does in the damage calcs. Lone wanderer is also useful in survival for carry weight, but the damage reduction is the highlight in a permadeath scenario.

Cheesecake is technically a variety of custard pie, similar to Lemon Meringue or other custard pie variant. New York cheesecake has a higher proportion of cream cheese to the standard variety, and it results in a thicker texture. you need to talk to preston at the entrance of the settlement. there is a trigger point down there and you can soft lock yourself unless you can get preston near the bridge. Glad to see the "update" fixed small issues like this

Completely missed opportunity Howard!: game physics: when you kill an animal with a flame or energy weapon and loot the corpse anything that would normally appear as "meat" should instead be the cooked version. Gooify weapons should result in "soup" items and poison "chem buffs". That way you could fill your larder with food by hunting mole rats with a laser. It makes sense on many levels. Also, I solved the Marcy problem. Build a guard post as far away as the boundriess will let you and assign her to it. At least then nobody can hear her complain.

Everyone who's played a fallout game knows why the vehicles are powered by nuclear power. The question isn't why, it's how. It takes place an alternate reality where after we (US) dropped bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima decided to continue developing nuclear power for every day use rather than limit it to weapons and put bans on its uses. As for wood, I don't know that it has a petrification effect either. But Nagasaki and Hiroshima still have plant life. Most of it is either dead or in a state of decay, though. It also hasn't been 200 years we dropped them so time could be a factor.

I believe I had that glitch, save by sleeping, reload the game completely. When you come back into the game, go directly to Garvey and talk with him. If you do any other action besides talking he will reglitch.

The update absolutely bugged out Preston on Survival. But if you do Sturges building quests and then liberate two settlement locations then Preston will be able to talk to you because it advances the quest beyond the bugged out part of the Minutemen questline.

That´s why i stopped and never played survival again after 3 hours on my first try. Dull restrictions in a gamemode on a buggy game is simply....amazing. And apart, it did not even feel challenging, just boring micromanaging around your own character while trying to fix broken scripts. Endet up modding me my own difficulty. But i appreciate watching people trying to fix todds mess 👍

If you do - I think it would be more than fair to start survival mode from when you get the gang back to sanctuary so if it bugs out - you can speed run through the opening sections again (even before stream) on non-survival difficulty as you have spent most of the last two streams just trying to debug Sanctuary.
