How to clean and lubricant you chain can be one of the essential part of motorcycle service that can be performed by the rider. Then comes the question which is the best chain lube? How to lubricant the chain? Can we use grease as chain lube? Aluminum based white chain lube?
In this video we review the Motul C5 chain paste on both the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V and 160 4V. The Motul C5 chain paste is a grease based chain lubricant formulated for motorcycle drive chain. Motul C5 chain paste is made from Aluminum based grease. Aluminum based grease are know for their anti rust and anti corrosion and Motul claims similar stuff with Motul C5 chain paste. Motul Chain paste is NLGI 1 grade grease which makes the paste on lesser thicker side. I have shared the practical experience with the grease on the chain of both Apache RTR 200 and Apache 160 4V. The result with the chain lube have been shared after after using the motorcycles in highways and wet conditions. This can be one of the best and economic chain lubricating solutions.

Long distance touring >1000km forced me to rethink the use of the regular chain lube that comes in the usual spray cans. This paste version is perfect because I don't have to worry about pressurized cans blowing up and leaving a colossal mess when I park the bike under the hot noon sun and I don't have to keep buying it for every trip like I have to with the small travel-sized cans of lube. Plus it looks like there's plenty in the tube to serve the 2 bikes that we ride when touring, more than enough to last several trips even.

Mix 25 ml of mineral oil with 75 ml of petrol and use this mixture for cleaning. After cleaning wipe the Chain with cotton cloth and apply gear oil. The total process takes maximum 20 minutes. For best results lube the chain atleast 4 hours before riding. I have used Motul, Liquimoly, Polytron and Castrol chain lubes but found gear oil to be cheap and best. On Royal Enfield you will require lubing after every 300 to 400 kms if using gear oil. Nice video, liked it. 👍

Better compression sealing better fuel burning less carbon and other emissions and nominal maintenance. Get results of BS6 in PUC.

@@iamrobot396 , that is one disadvantage of chain lube during monsoons. I lost a chain set after applying Motul chain lube long time back during rains thinking it will protect the chain but..... O-ring chains do have lubricant between the rings, it's the exposed part that rusts during rains and causes hard links.

I think due to the application of the chain lube, the chain picked up sludge. Riding in monsoon over slushy roads makes this application more of a problem as you have shown in the video. I'd rather apply some aerosol wax and use that as the problem of sludge formation due to paste is greatly reduced. What do you think?

I use white lithium grease in a spray can. It comes out of the spray can as a thin liquid that soaks into the rollers and coats the o or x rings, which preventing them from drying out with age and cracking. After a few minutes the grease congeals into a thick paste. After it congeals you can wipe away the excess so it doesn't sling off the chain resulting is grease splattering on the bike.

Everyone needs to study what the original OEM ( chain manufacturer ) recommends for the o ring chain. " Just lube lube and lube by a gear oil, not even cleaning !! " . Try not to clean, but regularly lube them with gear oil, it will last more than the ones cleaned and lubed. Regular gear oil lubing simply flings away the heavy dirt.

Whatever, it is still a grease & it tends to attract dust, mud & create a abrasive sludge like a grinding or lapping paste, which in turn lessens the sprocket & chain life. Chain spray is the best option. That too OKS chain lube spray is a better choice. It is quite natural, that in rainy season the frequency of cleaning & lubing the chain is more often to that when compared to other seasons..

Basically, all it is is very expensive white grease. Oring chains have only two enemies. Rust and wear between the rollers and pin. The grease only does the first. It prevents rust. You need a grease that goes on in liquid form so it gets under the rollers and this does not. So if all I want is a rust free chain, any old grease brushed on would do fine.

Personally this lube is my favourite ! All other lube makes the chain dirty and cleaning them is a pain and damages the permanent seals.. This lube sits on the friction point of the brass chain of my Dominar 400 UG and Surprisingly I've used the chain for 3500 kms and till now there seems to be no adjustment required and the chain still sounds like a brand new chain.. During rain the lube doesn't work that properly for longer duration but in dry conditions it's perfect.. And my chain is super clean as well.. I've already applied around 8 times and the tube is still 70% full i guess 🤣

one draw back could be in a touring situation where we don't get a lot of time to clean the chain before every application wherein sprays takes advantage as it can penetrate much easily

I have the perfect solution for you. Use my Turbofield Nano Treatment and keep touring . It treats the metal and seals the micro pores of the metal surface of the chain. Stays there permanently and lubricates the chain ,reduces friction,heat, noise And it lasts very very very long It is also available for engine wheel bearing and suspension . Your ride in touring will be on the next level . And the best feature of this product is the more you drive the more it improves the performance and ride .

@motoryzen
@motoryzen 6 ай бұрын
You would be better off buying a gallon of kerosene The only real part of WD40 that actually is proven to clean. Certain things such as motorcycle change is the ingredient that is also found in kerosene Kerosene by volume is lower cost than w. D forty

Can chuck paste be used as chain lube
@avinashg6268
@avinashg6268 3 жыл бұрын
Sounds feasible. Because even the chuck also comprise working with heavy load in clamping the object & runs at several rpm with wet condition. Need to be re-think. Who knows these MNC brands are doing the same by packing the Chuck paste in an attractive tube..

No harm in experimenting. Most chuck pastes are NLGI 3 (or 2) which makes them thicker and that can be an issue if it is used for highway speeds.
