I was a bit down today. Tired, a little fed up with the world. So I went looking for Lucy. She sings simple truths, and helps put the focus on the important things. Her voice is lovely, her words can bring joy in spite of the sadness in the song. When a singer can make you cry in sorrow and smile with joy, she's become a true master of her art. I'm old, but as long as music like Lucy's keeps coming out, I'll never give up. She brings me hope.

Over the past few days I've been in love with Lucy's songs. She's unlike anybody I've ever come across, and has her own uniqueness. All you need is a quite place and a guitar to create a piece of music that's meaningful to you, but no, Lucy's is quite something. First it was 'Tea and Toast', then I looked at her other songs e.g 'Lighthouse', 'Last Night', 'Someone' and I'm truly amazed. I didn't have to think twice about ordering her album 'Join The Club'. It'll be amazing to listen to in car journeys or just simply in my room. Every song has a hidden message behind it and that's what I love about her. What would you say is the meaning behind this song? I think it's got something to do with having the strength to do what you think is impossible

lucy is very different from your normal singer. The world is full of amazing singers but she has more then just a great voice. She also has a very creative mind. I think if her first song "last night" wasn't pulled off itunes it would have gone to number one. Basically she used very little to create something big. Most singers who get that high up the chart are surrounded by the best songwriters and producers they can get. She put out a top 10 song with just a guitar and her voice.

I get that this might not be a correct interpretation of this song, but the thing that hooked me on it is the first verse. I love the perspective of an elderly person as someone who has lived a really full life and has followed so many of their dreams, speaking to someone just starting out and feeling overwhelmed. The bit I may have wrong, but that I love so much, is I take the closure as being sung from the perspective of the old lady, still speaking to the young person. So often things which SEEM insurmountable, really just need a little encouragement from someone who has faced them down before to make them seem smaller and more achievable. Taken in this light, the whole song has this really positive message of support and encouragement from one person to another. People encouraging others that they are not really facing their stuff alone. I love it.
