Interesting facts: In most programs the process of deleting parts of a mesh by using another 3D object is called a boolean. Or rather turning the 3D object into a boolean. It can be very useful for prototyping, but it isn't super good for 3D topology which means if you plan to use it for a video game you'll have to do a lot of extra work to fix it. But for 3D miniatures? Perfect!

It's better to use blue water color paint than food dye which will fade over time. I learned this the hard way using caulking to frost mini cakes.
