She's NOT the average miniature scene builder. She adds some much love to it. I'm interested in expanding on the scenes and adding some miniature dolls to create a visual story to film for fun.

If you run a tiny ball point tool over the lines on the spine between each book in your 'stack' of books, it adds a bit to the realism of the books. I love the way your finished the 'covers' of the stacks, I hadn't thought of doing that.

I love your work! Cath, You have inspired me to really want to work on some detailed wood minis - I remember once you told me that wood is best to work with. So I went out and bought lots of popsicle sticks. I already had made a lot of mini books, but I haven't made anywhere to put them yet. So I think I will make wooden shelves. Thanks for sharing all your excellent stuff. And as soon as I create a bookshelf like this - I am gonna share it, too. What a unique way to do the brick wall - I might use that style for a backdrop I need for my doll's studio.

I do model railroading (1/48th scale). At times I envy the folks who work larger. But I did convert a "plasticville" store to a used bookstore. I didn't know about "printable book covers" so I used covers from ads in old issues of Asimov's Science Fiction magazine. Size them appropriately, print them out, glue to some cardstock and it does look pretty good. As a bonus, I was able to leave a few of the "books" in other locations around my little town.

I make book boxes for books I write for the kids. Some contain libraries of mini books. .My best trick is to take old magazines. Print mini book covers and glue them down the spine of the magazine and then cut them apart on the band saw. Sometimes I sand the edges a bit and distress the edges with a brown ink pad.
