Here is a terrific full-length video from the first leg of the Snakes & Arrows tour. Kudos to the taper, RJPass, for making this gem available - a great centered location, a tripod to keep the camera rock-steady, and nice full sound. The shot is consistent throughout - no zooms or close-ups - and it is a pleasure to watch. Enjoy!

I live in Australia, Rush never came here in almost half a century of existence, so I went to them. I saw them 4 times on 3 different trips, and this was one of those 4 times. And the most memorable. The memories!!

such great quality, for some reason bootlegs do more to recreate the feeling of being at the concert. I remember I saw this show when I was 10 and the guards let me and my brother stand in the isle because we couldn't see over anybody. we were so close and had a clear view of Alex the whole time, and I'm sure established eye contact with us several times ( as Neil stated in his books, the band always payed close attention to the crowds during their shows to make sure everyone was having fun). I was so much shock after this concert I eventually went on to learn guitar. many many cheers to this legendary band :')

If you're a Rush fan, and watching, listening, and experiencing Entre Nous played live for the first time EVER doesn't give you goosebumps, then I don't know what will. How come they never played that song live until 2007 is a mystery but how great is it that they finally busted it out!

Musical hero I hope. These guys are awesome musicians but none of us knew what they were like personally other than what we’ve heard. I’ve always read that all 3 were very humble good people and that’s not always the case in the music business. I just hope he’s a musical hero and not a life’s one.

I lost my brother in 2007. I went into a deep depression and a friend of mine convinced me that I needed to get out of the house - to NOT self isolate. He invited me to a Rush concert - it was THIS concert. It changed my life. Thank you for uploading - I have been looking for footage from this concert since 2007. You uploaded this video in 2014, I don't know why it took me seven years to find it. But thank you for uploading! I WAS THERE! About twenty feet to the left of where this was recorded.

A Self Employed GC with a license. 20 years experience very skilled in tile work. No med insurance, rarely saw doctors. Good looking rock star type of dude. John started having weird dreams and visions of USA underwater. Then poof - gone in like two weeks. Gone. Never really knew he was sick. Luv ya John. Miss ya TONS. See you on the other side.

@@Marfoir0303: Actually, 49 times but mis-typed!!LOL! I think if I had to pick a 'Top 3' shows, it would be the first on the 'ESL' tour when I was 12 at the Meadowlands, NJ. Because seeing that drum-kit and absorbing (or trying to absorb) everything he was playing just opened my mind to endless possibilities as a beginning drummer. Plus, these guys were like super heroes to me and here they were!!. The second would have been the 'VT' tour of 2002. I saw three shows that tour but the more memorable one was at MSG. Just because I was with a buddy who first turned me onto the band in 1980 and that they had come back from Neil's tragedies and the band was simply "on it" that night. Geddy's voice was clear and strong and the band was just in a fantastic groove. The final show was the 'R40' show I saw in Greensboro, NC. I thought that this would be the final tour and the boys had some errors but they were also their age. Going back in time and Neil bringing back the double-bass kit (minus all of the organic percussion except for the chimes behind him) and hearing a few songs live I had never heard played live before after all of those years kind of made my Rush experience that night a full-circle.

@@Marfoir0303I can narrow it down to two: 1) The first time because it was the first and featured the 'MP' drum-kit. 2) Probably the Vapor trails Tour because of how fresh set-list as, coming back after five years and Geddy sounding as strong as ever.

I was at this show, and it was great. Because this was at the Hollywood Bowl, it was a bit more of an "industry" crowd than when Rush plays Staples Ctr, or better yet the LA Forum (back in the day and this coming August!) or Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. LA Rush fans are generally just as die-hard and know their Rush as well as anybody. No need to diss Neil Peart's current hometown!

I was also at this show and the crowd was somewhat subdued from start to finish - for me the problem is with the venue - Hollywood Bowl has too much open space and the sound quickly dissipates into the atmosphere, because of this it quickly kills the ambience for certain bands like Rush and it’s very difficult to recapture. Also don’t need ear plugs at the bowl which tells you something. However, saw them at Gibson Amphitheater for Time Machine Tour and Staples for Vapor Trails and completely different feeling - the sound reverberates inside the building and bounces off and inside your body - you can’t help but feel the electricity...

One of the best shows I've ever seen. My 3rd Rush show- I'd just turned 17. Went with my dad, his girlfriend and a buddy from high school. Phenomenal setlist and the band was just on fire. Neil was tight, Alex was clean and crisp and Ged's vocals were damn near perfect. Thank you for capturing this. I'll be coming back to watch this over and over I'm sure. The crowd seems tame in the recording here but people don't realize the deference paid for performers at the Bowl, or how big the place is. It isn't just a rock show but an all around experience. Besides, there was plenty of fan mayhem in the audience all around from my observations. And of course we had to break out the doobies for Bangkok. Cause "they NEVER play Bangkok!"

Just dropped by out of respect for Neil Peart. This was the last time I saw them (2007), at the San Diego show. As I remember and enjoyed, rotisserie chicken and all. Thanks for shooting it the way you did, just great. RIP NP, and long live the memories :)

Such great footage, thanks...! 🙏 Strange, it didn’t seem that crowded at the front; would have just loved to sneak down there... My introduction to Rush began as a green teen in a pitch-dark cellar containing a pair of (to me) almost scary big Altec Lansing speakers, and then: the onslaught of Hemispheres... Safe to say, I wasn’t the same after that initiation. ⭐✨

I love your channel. Thank you so much for preserving and providing access to so many amazing shows. I remember about 20 years ago, I used to go to this super cool record store and buy Rush "Imports" for sometimes as much as $40.00 for a show - some that you have posted on your channel. I came here to relive this show, but I can't do it...too soon. I have the deluxe R40 thing, for a couple of years now..still haven't watched it. I think I'll check out some of your other posts and watch something from the mid-90s.

Wrong answer, dude. They are tuned very well, and this was played in the original key. If you are a musician, you'll notice it's played in the key of F, just like on the record. Eventually, Geddy did hit the F5 note here, just like in the studio.

My favorite set list in a long time on this first leg- Digital Man, Entre Nous, Circumstances in a row, a bit out of character (in the right way) for RUSH. Now if they would play "different strings" with a guest appearance by Hugh Syme at the piano, that would be unexpected.
@TheSquonk2112
@TheSquonk2112 10 жыл бұрын
Very out of character, but here's to more of that on R40. Ultimate set list - one song/album - what would it be?
@thesaneparty4079
@thesaneparty4079 10 жыл бұрын
Ha Ha- every Rush fan would have his own dream set list of course. Mine would be heavy on the Signals, Grace under Pressure, and Power Windows- topped off with some Caress of Steel and gems from everything else. I know Ged can't/won't sing hemispheres these days, but that's also a favorite along with Natural Science. If they'd stop apologizing for Ayn Rand, further, I think I could love them properly again.

TheSquonk2112 Working Man, By Tor and Snow dog or anthem, Fountain of lamneth, cygnus x -1 book 1 or xanadu, cygnus x 1 book 2 or really any song from hemispheres, natural science, the camera eye or yyz, the analog kid, distant early warning, big money, i hate hold your fire so nothing, roll the bones or dreamline. I dont know a few others but I hope they play animate and maybe even stick it out. I really hope they play caravan or clockwork angels .
