Govt’s strong narrative positions Ringgit as world's best-performing currency, says Rafizi

Adopting the right narrative and the courage to make some tough decisions have contributed to the ringgit’s rise to become the world's best-performing currency against the US dollar.
Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli told reporters on Tuesday (Oct 1) that Malaysia has the potential to become a high-income country under the 13th Malaysia Plan if all parties focus on enhancing the ringgit's performance.

The opposition said anwuar is incapable of improving our ringgit and yet ringgit strenghten in its value based on 3 factors 1.Strong and resilience economy (GDP) 2.The US has reduced its interest on the USD 3.The government narrative.

It's important to have a competent federal government to improve the economy, so that we can all have a good job and good standard of living. So at the federal level, vote for the party that brings about economic growth and development. Federal level, the focus is economy, not religion. Religion is state level. This is stipulated by Malaysia's constitution. So if you have friends who are religious and conservative, please tell them that they can vote for the religious issues they want at the state level. But at the federal level, please vote for the betterment of the economy so that everybody gets to improve his life and can better take care his family.

Why isit that when ringgit going down, we blame US interest rate, but when ringgit going up, we take all the credit? Isnt it even worrying that our ringgit value is now very much dependent on external factors and that ringgit can very much go the other way around once US election is over and ceasefire ever happen in palestine. Right now, it seems that the gov is indirectly admiting that RM4.6 per 1USD was fair given interest rate during that time was 5.25% and now at 4.75%, rate is at 4.2 per dollar. We used to be valued higher.

I wish they'll stop taking credit for everything that happens esp when they've not done much work actually. Strong currency doesn't mean good economy. It could just be money flows from sanctioned countries which might lead to something bad too
