7:51 im still scratching my head on how much these things weigh, and how they call pull the loads they pull when a single engine has a load behind it of 6,7+ people+ cars behind them.

how so? He clearly saw the approaching hazard, took steps to protect himself, and then resumed work when it was clear the hazard was done.

@@kotori87 One moment of inattention by either party and his hand is crushed. I would prefer to see him use a tool to hold the coupling, or, failing that, to simply drag the cars manually a few inches *after* the loco stopped.

Because it’s not a toy..
@WhatAboutTheBee5 жыл бұрын
Agreed. It is not a toy. Its a complicated piece of machinery, with inherent risks and dangers. That is what engendered my original comment and concern. Everybody should go home with a story about the power and beauty, not about how some young man is crippled for life. Being involved in an industrial accident will change your perspective, *forever*. Have fun, but be safe!!

I think that fear is a tad overblown. And by a tad I mean completely. If the couplers miss, the tender and car are still going to have space between them. Yeah, if he totally tards out and puts a full finger in the coupler he might lose it, but I'd put my years salary he isn't losing a hand.

I have a question.. at 11:35 the engineer push or taps on the pole ..can you tell me what does that do when they do that.
@cstraws5 жыл бұрын
This part of the signalling system. When he taps on the pole he is claiming the "block" in front of him. This turns the signal red for the trains coming at him and yellow for the trains behind him.

Guarantee you they aren't cheap! Not the same animals as steam, that is true, but the level of attention on the F units is really there. Lots of very specific parts made and built for them.
