We got the treehouse fixed up good enough for me to finish off camping for the week! While we were out at the acreage we rescued a quad that was abandoned on the trail and built a warming shelter for use during this cold cold winter.

I’m going to give you something quite positive. The stealth camping might be the big punch, but people just like to watch and feel like they are just watching Steve and hanging out. That’s what these feel like. If it’s in a treehouse, doing some random work, building that shelter. That’s your core audience. The ones that watch week in and week out. Keep doing you man, but I do ask not to burn yourself out if at all possible

@Steve Wallis I'm a hunter, and the markings you showed appeared to not be a bear. I've seen that in the Aspen trees here in Colorado, and it is caused by Elk (typically, though deer and moose do the same thing). What they do when they can't find a water hole or water is scarce, is they will rip off the bark and chew it because of the water contained in the bark. I know in Alberta you guys have the following animals that will use bark for moisture: 1. Elk (monster elk), 2. Deer (again monsters) 3. Moose. If you could post a picture I would be happy to take a look and confirm that for you based on my experience all these years hunting. It was hard to tell from the quick glance in the video, but a still would be a big help. Love the videos and keep up the great work man.

I’m camping in my pop up gazebo in the back yard in my hammock. Getting down to 30°F tonight.. got an old kerosene heater going and my cat waiting for me to lay down already so she can get in the sleeping bag. Hubby and my boy are sleeping in the house but I wanted to go camping this weekend so after we all cooked some johnsonville cheddarwurst I decided to stay out and “camp” all night. Never been checked on so much in my life lol. Before I watched Camping with Steve I would have felt weird doing this.

I wouldn't. The desert property I live on now was formerly owned by an older couple who built their house, fence, garage and several other structures from pallet wood. By around 2008 they had built about all they were going to build and according to a neighbor who has lived out here for a long time it all seemed to be holding up OK but the old guy was always working on them doing repairs. When his health failed and they went back to the city to live with family it all started coming apart within months and the wind blew the last building down after just 2 years of no maintenance. I've been living here in my trailer now for 20 months and I am still burning what is left of the structures every night in my fire pit and wood stove and I probably have enough scrap wood scattered around the property to last me until next winter.
@davedunks4647
@davedunks4647 3 жыл бұрын
Ive been stacking pallets in my garage but I'm running out of room, gotta start breaking them down. There's an industrial park just down the road that always has a stack sitting out there weekly. I pick through it and a LOT of that wood is salvageable and actual decent cedar boards and etc, especially if you were to weather treat / paint it. Don't think I'd want to build my entire house out of it, but Id definitely use it for a makeshift hunting cabin or what have you.

In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. This video made me realized why I love watching your stuff so much, Steve. You're living the dream of boys throughout the world, myself included. As a teen, we used to take machetes and hack trails through the woods so we could take our bikes through them. I used to think of how cool it would be if he could have a shelter/tree house along the way, including a fire pit. But of course, the land wasn't ours, so while we got away with trails, any thing else would have not been allowed. Good times. That said, I was feeling like a teen again watching you guys do your things in this video. And I can't stop smiling as a result. 😁 So thanks for the great video. I really mean that.

Great video. Crazy neighbor, treehouse, some kind of guacamole sloppy thing, brief sounds of an ATV, Crazy neighbor's no coffee/tea paradigm, warming shelter. ....and that warming shelter is cool. Right now it looks like what we have here in Missouri at our trail heads... That's gonna work great. Yes. F'n excellent.

Really like this guy. He doesn't act like he's this magical human being that can sleep outside in the forest or start a fire without a match or lighter. Since humans have been able to start a for 2 million years and they didn't buy anything from a store or watch a video on how to do it.

I’ll say for me I watch this to get ideas for camping and to get that little taste of outdoors when I don’t have time in my life for it. If that means watching you just hang out or make a little shelter or work on the house or hide in the woods it’s all good we get that little taser of what we can’t have at the moment.

17:37 Those marks going up the tree seem too deep and numerous to be claw marks. I've seen similar marks left by rabbits at various heights on the tree as they eat the bark with the snow at various levels. But those go too high for that. Maybe a porcupine or other climbing critter gnawing away at the bark? You are a fortunate man to have a wonderful wife, good neighbors, and a nice nature preserve as your backyard! Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey Steve, I really appreciate the time and effort that you put into your youtube channel. I've watched most of your videos and I must say, you are the Bob Ross of camping. IDK man, but I think it would be pretty epic for you to hike the AT for some time, maybe all of it. I'm sure we could help you do that, its a lot, and for someone to do it, they pretty much have to drop everything and that could be detrimental. But Steve, thank you so much for these videos, they've really helped me when I've been down. To me, your a good friend, even though we've never met.

The Outsider has a video series where he built a snowmobile camper. A basic version of that would be perfect to use as a warming shelter. Build it at home and tow it with a snowmobile to the desired location. Love your content, keep up the great work. CN beware a chairs that fight back, you never know when they will sneak up behind you. 😄
