The crossbow went together quickly and the general fit and finish is a bit above what I expected for the price. kzbin.infoUgkx5B43Qabqt1HedUJyfEqxiwBCfaooIH52 The adjustable stock is a little loose. I had an issue when I tried to cock the bow for the first time with the safety on. The string set in the trap box, held just enough to build up enough tension to rip the string out of my hands when it let go. No significant damage was done, and once I got it sighted in, I wrecked a couple bolts by sending one straight down the shaft of the first. I'm holding ~2" groups at around 50 yards, and I'm not an expert by any means. Best part is that they supply all the replacements parts you may ever need

Sir, how are you doing? I got a question, I went for spring turkey hunt in New York state, but I did not hear any turkey call back at me. Before I went hunting, I looked up the public land's website, it says there are turkeys on the land. Do you have any hint that I could know where to hunt directly? Is DEC website's information reliable? Thank you so much.
@TheSticksBrand7 жыл бұрын
The website should be reliable, but remember: you need to go scouting a few weeks before the season starts, or before your hunt. If you don't know where they are roosting (sleeping during the night), and where they're flying down to, chances are you won't see a turkey while hunting. Hunting turkey (or anything for that matter) is very difficult and takes a lot of planning. I would recommend hiking for a bit to find turkey tracks in the area. If you see turkey tracks, they're definitely around. So plan on going out the next morning, before sunrise, and scout them by calling (as mentioned in our video). This will help locate where they are roosting and where they'll fly down to in the morning.

How effective is a blind when turkey hunting? Does it have good benefits?
@TheSticksBrand7 жыл бұрын
Blinds can be very effective if you're planning on staying in one spot! However, if you're backpacking or doing a lot of hiking to get to and from your hunting area, it may not be ideal. It can be a lot to carry. The benefits are that the turkey won't see any movement which is what tends to spook them easiest.

Although, I hope new hunters see through the few bs pieces (Eg. brain size and owl predation-ok, maybe on young chicks). I guess I’ll also give some on that Oregon birds are probably a lot dumber than Georgia birds, so the brains on Oregon birds may be that small. Hahaha. Good stuff. Happy Hunting to Ya.

Wild turkeys aren't dumb and that brain he has isn't the real size of a wild turkeys brain. The size of a wild turkeys brain is more like the size of a walnut. If were talking about a farm raised turkey the brain is about 1/3 that size. I have to say a walnut sized brain is kind of big for a bird... Get to know your prey. Lots of differentiates between domesticated and wild. By the way by no means am I not saying the tips are bad or wrong.
@TheSticksBrand6 жыл бұрын
I don't think he was being too literal with the brain, just trying to prove a point that we don't have to outsmart a turkey too much. Their habits are extremely predictable and there's not much more to it than eating, sleeping, breathing, and mating.

I’m a middle-aged dude with myopia and astigmatism, and I wear bifocals when I hunt deer with a rifle from a tree stand or a reflective ground blind. I have been successful doing that, but I wonder if how critical camouflage is for being down at ground level if the reflection from eyeglasses is really a nonstarter, and I would have to get contact lenses and then have reading glasses handy To check my phone and HHHuntWise. In these beginner videos I have been seeing, hunters are wearing full face masks with just the slit for the eyes.Do you think eyeglasses will usually give away a hunter to a turkey?
@TheSticksBrand Жыл бұрын
No - I wouldn't worry about it. Could be an issue, but nothing to spend money on. A ballcap should hide your eyes pretty well. Set up a solid ground blind, and it certainly wouldn't be a problem.
@JamesBjorkSax Жыл бұрын
@@TheSticksBrand thank you. It is my understanding that deer avoid a new or novel ground blind in the area, such that you need to set one up weeks in advance of your sit. Are turkeys too stupid to care about a blind that just got popped up if the see no current movement?
