I met up with Braun in a small cabin village in the mountains with a frozen lake for the weekend. We went out wheeling, took his 4runner out on the ice and did the long requested red 4runner walkaround.

8" is plenty. We run ice racing events in Ashcroft and that is the minimum for us to run the event. So that's 20-40 cars plus tow vehicles and stuff all on the ice. Absolute bare minimum to support a car is 2-3". But ice is rarely consistent like you can see in the drone shot at the end. Springs and stuff warm it up and make thin spots so you gotta know where those are. The shore is also usually the thinnest ice. Either way, very cool spot. Always look forward to your videos :)

I didn't understand what you meant by completely frozen until you mentioned the ice was 8" thick. I now assume completely means all of the water down to the bottom of the pond in frozen. That's colder than this Southern boy can imagine. It looks like you guys had fun. Everyone needs a Braun friend.

How’s that Cascadia4x4 solar panel on the hood working? I’m guessing you don’t have the fridge set up for the most part right now. Too bad the JL/JT Rubicon one is only 30 watts !

Yeah I run my fridge off the rooftop 100w panel. No idea how the Cascadia panel is working other than it's functioning. I didn't really have a problem with keeping my battery charged and now I guess I have even less of that problem.
