You get a lot of car and performance for the money all wrapped up in that legendary Toyota quality. Frankly I don't know how Toyota was able to do it. There were ultimately two strikes against this car which made us go with something else. (1) this is not offered in a manual. My wife and I are all about saving the manual especially for our second car and (2) the car is too big :( We would not be able to fit this car in our garage with our other car. To us it always made sense to use a two car garage for two cars. Ultimately we got a Honda Civic Type R and with NO regrets. I do have to give respect where respect is due and I applaud Toyota for making this car. I really believe the people who would buy this car are looking at manuals. We were. Apparently, this car is selling very well for Toyota so we might see a manual in the near future. Thanks again for the review.

I own a 2019 Camry SE...best vehicle I've ever owned. 2 road trips and 18,000 Miles since September. I used to own sports cars (500rwhp trans am, 1974 Nova 350 small block, 1991 Camaro 5.7 TPI) etc...this car has plenty of power for a commuter and its rated at 36 mpg...my commute is mostly 55mph to work and back and I get 45 mph trip average with the regular SE 8 speed auto. My Tundra stays parked now except for shenanigans. If youre looking at one of these, its been a pleasant experience so far. Smart car, and responsive...i can only imagine the TRD version is just a little better, the SE already has enough power to get you down the road quickly and merging safely...its honestly more than enough as is....and thats with the I4 cylinder. The 8 speed is smooth and I have to use cruise control because you have no clue you're doing 80 in 55 before its too late.

8:20 The Canadian spec Lexus IS350/RC350 will *immediately* kick down to 2nd gear if you floor the gas pedal anywhere from 84km/h and under. There is a kick down function in the 6 speed auto which accomplishes that, it's literally instantaneous with respect to its shift speed. Regarding the comments about slow upshifts - the upshifts are slow if you are not pushing the car, but if you put it into S / S+ and you're giving it like 70% - 100% throttle, the shifting happens much faster. It feels to be about a half second delay between pulling the paddle and having it upshift from 1st - 2nd, 2nd - 3rd, etc. It's not super fast like a DSG or even Lexus' 10 speed on the LC500, but it's still quick enough. I will say that you're absolutely right that the paddle shift speed is slow af if you're not pushing the car fast enough to make the sound baffles open in the intake, it's absolutely glacial if you are just driving around town.

Why didnt you get a Civic? Just curious
@wesleesharp4 жыл бұрын
@@kinluke The two big reasons were interior space and I didn't want that 1.5T engine with the oil dilution issues. Just for the record, the Type R was never a consideration.
@kinluke4 жыл бұрын
@@wesleesharp ahh i see! Thanks for sharing. I assume you're also subscribed to Scotty Kilmer? By any chance? He talks alot about the oil dilution problems of the 1.5 Turbocharged engine. Apparently Honda has solved the issue with one simple software tweak. Still contemplating about getting a Civic though.
@wesleesharp4 жыл бұрын
@@kinluke I am a subscriber to Scotty but I heard about it before he mentioned it. I wouldn't be as hesitant to buy a new Civic since they've fixed it but a used car that has experienced the oil dilution may have worn the engine too much and cause premature failure. The Civic is a good car, just not what I was looking for. If I was looking for a small car, I would go Corolla. I'm mostly a Toyota guy but the Accord really grabbed me.

I think this is an awesome car. It's for either the guy who isn't quite into cars yet. Or a car guy to get a kinda fun car past the wife. It looks great but the wang is a little weird, it's also the cheapest way to get a v6. I personally would wait for the Sonata N-Line instead of this but you cant beat the reliability and resale.
