I'm a salesperson at Jaguar Land Rover. Personally I have driven stick everyday for the past 10 years. The manual F-Type S doesn't pop as much as the automatic F-Type S. Also the shifter is a bit disappointing and the clutch has super long travel. It's one of the rare cars I would pick an automatic over the manual.

Oh no

And besides, it's insanely hard for any manual transmission out there to beat the shifting of a ZF8HP70 (or 90), especially with a trans tune ... Those transmissions are just bonkers amazing for an auto
@135iN554 жыл бұрын
The ZF8 has a full manual mode with zero automatic intervention. But it is imposible to manually shift the car effectively, so auto 0-60 is 2. 8 secs, manual is maybe 3.5.

So whats the fuel economy on this *BRRRRRAAAAHHHHH *PoP*Pop*Crackle*Crackle*
@Phillsen6 жыл бұрын
It's quite bad ^^ BUT if you drive it rationally you get an okay economy for that much power. Pretty much like all V8 Jags. Having fun with my XF SV8 I need about 17l/100km (~14mpg). Driving to work I get it down to an average of 11.5l/100km (~20.5mpg) On long trips I even get it down to 9.5l/100km (~25mpg) I would assume as the F-Type is about 10 years younger and therefore technically more advanced this are about the numbers you should get although the F-Type SVR has ~150hp more than my old cat.

@omarsaletovicprins96325 жыл бұрын
gwot Yeah I agree. Most Jags tank in the resale value. Look at the XK 1st gen, 2nd gen and the XJS - all lost huuuuge amounts of value. The early XJS and E-type all gained value because they are 60s cars, and all cars from that time period have!
@Erowens985 жыл бұрын
Maybe, they are incredible cars. But i wouldn't bet on it, production numbers are too high. Unless people start totalling them in droves. That pop technique is amazing
@Phillsen6 жыл бұрын
Actually it isn't. If you want to know how its done read on, if not have a nice day. Old sportscars (60ies) had carburettors through which the pistons sucked the air/fuel mix. If you lifted your foot from the pedal, the throttle valve closed, but the engine still sucked on the carburettor. As sportscars usually had a big system and not perfectly "leakproof" (thats why the family cars usually didnt do the pops and crackles) a bit of gas ended up in the chamber anyway, but it did not got burned properly so it ended up in the exhaust and ignited there causing the pops. When the cars got injectors instead of carburettors the pops stopped because of the relapsing shutdown. Now because of nostalgia a lot of people loved those pops and crackles. So the carmakers started to program their sportscars to do these pops. They just told the software to inject a little gas and to turn of the sparks when you lift the foot from the pedal. Voila pops and crackles. It's just software. That's why every underpowered golf does this as well today (unfortunately).
@Phillsen6 жыл бұрын
A OH the technique is nothing special. I never said I don’t like it or it doesn’t fit. It’s just not somehow advanced, it’s 3 lines of code and every modern car can do it.

Thumbs up for a great and fun review. I'll probably get flamed for saying this, but I am with a very small demographic of car enthusiast that don't like this trend of crackle and pops exhaust out of the more recent 'Sport' car/suv's. To me, the pops just sounds like a poorly tuned car burning the excess fuel in the exhaust pipes. While I completely understand that a lot of race car's use this for the Anti-Lag reasons, but for a normal street/ sport car, I will take a nice V8 rumble, or a high revving 4 banger/V6 exhaust note over the crackle and pops any day.
@bleu_chzst9246 жыл бұрын
gtguy123 im feel the same way. After a wot pull one big pop and fireball keeps me happy this whole coming off compression and the whole car sounds like a assault rifle i dont get.
@kurttug5 жыл бұрын
If this exhaust popping is an actual engineered feature, it's just as stupid as artificial engine noise through the speakers.
@gwot5 жыл бұрын
fun fact: you get the pop from unburnt fuel, that's why when you slightly tap the gas, it injects fuel and straight out the exhaust and you get the popping. This also kills your catalytic converts 10x faster, build up carbon in the engine 20x faster. Another fun fact: EACH muffler costs $8,500. And the titanium tips will change colour if you drive it hard enough. I work at a Jaguar dealership (the one this exact press car Jag goes through), every time a washbay kid gets an F-type, they proceed to rev the hell out of it inside the shop, and only kids do it, cuz the adults who hear it all the time are sick of it, it is super annoying, can't imagine living with it. Also that "four door" (XE project 8) sounds better, it is way deeper and more burbly.

I would take the F-Type SVR convertible over any of its competitors. I prefer the looks of the AMG GTc I prefer the interieur and all round performance on the Porsche. But this is just so silly and lovely it is a real occasion to drive, and that is exactly what a car like this should be! The sound of a SVR convertible is insane, please test one I would love to see your reaction haha!

That circle around the SV is the “O” for operations. If you really want to have fun Keep it in 2nd or 3rd gear. Also, its better to have the convertible if you want fully hear the pops and bangs. The cabin in the coupe is pretty quiet and the only people that will hear it will be your neighbors or bystanders.

8:20 SVR is Special Vehicle Operations R model. They dont say SVO R because SV R sounds cooler. If you look at the logo, there is actually an O around the SV. So its called an SV R, but its actually an SVO R.

SVO is the facility and the halo brand. SVR is for “dynamics.” SVA is for “Luxury.” SVX is for “Capability.”

yea the amg gtc and the jag are hard choices. i personelly love the jags styling over the amg but not by much. if i had to choose it would be a british green svr over the amg just by a landslide. both are excellent cars and i love both of em.

Thought it was priceless when Yuri tries to replicate the "exhaust tap method" (which I had thought was simply the cars tuning instead of any technique), and says "yeah I don't know how he's doing that" 😂 guess Jakub is ranked among the exhaust tap gods

Hey! That blipping the throttle method doesn't work at all on my Chevy Sonic! Once again guys, keep up the great work. You two talk and tease each other just like me and my buddies, which really adds to the personal casual feel. Plus, I get to learn new words like, "oversteerie". Also, this Jag is in a category of its own - not a vette, 911 or MB comp, more of a wealthy gentleman's GT / take a fine woman to a top restaurant and discuss Bay Street (Wall Street for the US people) kinda car.

I have a 2015 F Type V8S, if you are in Dynamic/Sport mode Manual, and in 3rd gear you can hover between 2500-3000 rpm, and the noise and the acceleration is amazing. Exhaust makes noise on every let off!
