i was literally the exact person you were talking about at the beginning of the video: i was working at a bike resort over the summer, and i exclusively took shifts which allowed me to ride my bike every morning. at the beginning of the summer, i bought a 2022 norco shore a2 off of my friend for $1200. the entire drivetrain was destroyed and i ended up blowing up the rear wheel within a week of getting it, so i bought a new wheelset off some dude for $100. i rode the bike chainless for the whole summer because i didnt want to spend the $150 CAD required to get reverse's single speed cog for the xd driver. i ended the summer with the most laps in the park out of anyone, totaling to 406 laps, which was more than double second place.

How ironic that my next suggested video is a dream build video. 😂 Love it though, Go out and ride the bike you have, something that has been lost somewhere along the way over the past few years. Thanks for always keeping it real.

Just stumbled on this video and was so happy to find someone actually talking sense. After working in the industry for many many decades, I see high end bike after high end bike and have zero interest. It's all about bleeding peoples pockets dry rather than riding. Keck most of the expensive stuff is actually not even that great. But I see a build like yours and it make me smile and want to go ride =D

I've been toying with the idea of moving over to BMX cranks also. There's always the option of getting a spider and chainring. Alternately, you could probably run a 1/8" chain just fine. It's not like you need to run a derailleur capable chain on it, and it should feed through the tensioner just fine. If you're feeling extra frisky, go with a Shadow Race chain, and get the half link benefits too.

1:50 Mid school flatland guy here. If you are serious about a gyro with disc brakes, you need to have bolted on cable tabs, a stiff top plate, and linear housing cables. Also, gyros aren't made for that amount of cable throw; so you may need to rig a v-brake booster pulley into the mix.

Cheers bro!! My favourite bike that I ride all the time is a 2008 Rocky Mountain etsX-70 carbon tail with 09 lyrik 2-step air and a monarch R and xt 4 pistons. I’ve got much better bikes but none of them are as comfortable and go anywhere as my old C-70 if I got a choice that’s what I always hop on. I am very down with old aluminum. By the way my best bike is a RMB 2012 Flatline World Cup in perfect condition cause I rebuilt it but never ride it

great video, I'm in the process of building a bike from scratch (Commencal SX frame) not all components I'm buying are top notch, but they are pretty good for me. I'm curious what size of handerbars are you running?, I got one with 31.8mm of clamp diameter; but not sure if I should've got the 35mm. I like jumps and technical riding.

I ride old mtb. I own an intense M1 form of 3ish. Then an intense M6 from 2014. And a ventanna that is from 1998ish. To a bike name ironhorse where I paid 40 bucks for it the main reason it had Marzocchi Bomner forks on it I thought I’d strip it for parts. But yet I rode it and liked it. My old 1998 Trek Y bike needs a bad over haul. And yes parts on on my bikes because it works. From xtr to. Hayes to hope old hubs.

Why not put hydraulic pump on the stem and have your lever wire connect to the hydraulic pump via your custom top bit of the headset? Put two hydraulic reservoirs by bolting on the stem, have wires connect to the front pump and rear pump (make sure pump’s upside down) to pull in. I know it’s complicated. Just wondering. I love your park rig, make total sense and it’s sweet.

You know whats funny. overhere in germany, especially in the smaller villages rather far away from the big city´s we have some car culture where especially young man love to have sleeper builds with little 90s/early 2000s hatchbacks and i always looked at them and thought, why would you want to have that lol. and now i am at a point in my journey as an biker/cyclist that i´d actually rather ride an budget sleeper bike i threw together than some brand new pinarello dogma or the newest high end santa cruz. and no i am not even broke and simply just cant afford them, i kinda just love the feeling and i cant even explain exactly why.
