I think that Vader would be quite a tragic character if there was no Palpatine to guide him. Anakin chose the dark side mostly because of Palpatine's promise to help him keep his wife from dying, and at that moment Anakin pretty much abandoned everything and everyone he had. Vader would be a lost man if he found out that his new master was defeated by one of those, who he claimed to be inferior to the Sith. Without Sidious who kept Vader on the dark side, Vader wouldn't probably stay on the path of darkness unless he found someone to guide him towards the darkness. I doubt Vader would be a Sith, he'd rather do everything he could to find Padme. And after realising she's dead, he would probably "loose his will to live". Also, if Vader became the Emperor, I feel he would have led a crusade against slavery. And sand, too XD

I have an issue with this what-if scenario, keeping in mind this was released in 2016. You failed to address that if Palpatine was dead, the Empire would've had a power struggle. Sure Mas and the clone troopers would've been been loyal to Vader, but Tarkin and many many other Imperial officers would not have been. They won't accept a complete stranger as the supreme emperor of the galaxy. The same would go to the Senate (keep in mind that from the senators is where the Rebellion was built). So the story should focus on how characters would react to the new emperor. Think of Geranal Hux and Kylo Ren, even if TLJ hadnt come up yet. And I know this video came up before power struggle related content was released, but even with the content that was released back then, there was enough content to know this would've been the outcome. Great video regardless. And yes, if the Emperor died in the original trilogy, Darth Vader could've inherited the Empire no problem because the Empire did know him.

Bit of a flaw: Padme is well-known in the Senate, she's a politician. Known by those who like her and those that hate her. So for a Senate leader to not know who she is, that's like an American never knowing who Bin Laden is. Plus, given how much he loves her, I think he would order them to locate her immediately and bring her to him, exclaiming "She must be protected!" and if she is found dead, whoever delivers the news is most likely a dead man. I have a what if: What if Padme never went to Mustafar and instead waited for Anakin's return. Would Obiwan wait there as well or would he still somehow find him on Mustafar? And let's assume Padme learns of what Obiwan did to Anakin, would she side with Anakin in full support or would she leave him? I know, a big what if, but you gotta admit would be worth finding out.

He could not 'inherit' the empire at that stage, the empire was entirely new and it required Palpetine's authority as the former chancellor, without which Vader would have no way to influence the still significant senate, even loyalty from the clone troops would not be certain. Actually, im pretty sure palpatine made a clause that if he died the empire was to be totally dismantled. Which is why in the movies, even though the entire empire is still in power, just the emperor(and Vader)being killed ended the entire thing. Thats also why the Star destroyers and everything all kamakazi'd in the battle of Jakku. ---I just found this out. I had always wondered why the empire fell just cause the 2nd Death Star was blown up and the emperor and vader were dead. How many thousands(tens of thousands? Hundreds of thousands?)of troops were still available, and dozens of high ranking capable officers were still around, yet they just surrendered and/or went out in a blaze of glory.

Palpatine didn’t made his body so clumsy and painful because of his failure but because he was scared that Vader would overthrow him

Can you do this situation again, with a change? Vader doesn't burn, and obi wan is forced to flee with padme and the droids, escaping Anakin's pursuit. Anakin becomes emperor, but he still has access to his full potential. For the sake of the story, he manages to hold the empire together by combining his new power with his status as the war hero who singlehandedly ended the separatists and the Jedi "takeover". He could also use his status as palpatine's apprentice and surrogate son to cement his status as the rightful heir, since he wouldn't have to hide his identity. He could fuse Anakin and Vader in a more powerful form. The Dark Lord of the Force. The yellow eyed knight. The chosen one.

The only problem I have with this is Mas Amedda, I think he'd take this chance to usurp Palpatine/Vader and make a grab for power. I'm sure Palpatine's sneaky behavior rubbed off on him. But then again he might be crazy loyal and that's why he was trusted to help Vader. Who knows.

If I was whatever the equivalent was to a detective in the Senate, I would have asked Emperor Palpatine the following :"Just what attack did the Jedi use that left you with those types of scars? They don't look normal. Which Jedi did it? How many Jedi were involved? How did the altercation begin?" etc, etc. Instead, the Senate just mindlessly believe him and roared with thunderous applause as he becomes the newly elected emperor.

If palpatine died yoda would contact obiwan , and he would wanna see anikans dead corpse and he would probably recover it , on the chance that anikan would have still been alive yoda would heal him just enough to keep him alive to stand trial and he would go to that prison on the outer rim , yoda wouldnt let him rebuild

I don’t think it would’ve been so simple. Even tho Vader was loyal to the emperor he constantly had doubt and turmoil struggling with Anakin and losing padme. So I don’t think he would’ve remained loyal to the darkside especially once he found out he had 2 children. One underrated ability sidious had over Vader was constant manipulation to ensure Vader’s loyalty to him. With sidious gone I don’t believe Vader would’ve lasted long as a Sith

Honestly my best thoughts about it would be a yoda's best chance of killing palpatine would be during their fight in the senate meeting room. Of which there would be no ship sent out to help vader, And even if You would have stowed away and somehow gone undetected before killing palpatine on mustafa- The troopers would be far too occupied with with dealing with yoda, and the fact their leaders dead to get vader. Vader would sadly roast like Chrismas dinner without anyone to come for him. And although the process of killing that yet I would still be going on as the order was given. All the jedi who ended up escaping the original order would probably be able to survive seeing as the mad dog vader and palpatine wouldn't be there to kill them or train Inquisitors to kill them. Meaning they could very likely turn things around given time to regroup and plan. In the meantime it would be more than likely figures such as tarkin would try and keep order, pressing the fact that in the eyes of the public, the jedi In another atempt, killed the chancellor. Most likely moving in to seize control in The chaos, As per the moment it was already pretty much a military que, just staged well in the eyes of the people. just without the head to lead it, So it only makes sense that a military man like him would take the helm, someone who already despised jedi and wouldn't exactly be saddened by there demonizing. Although tarkin was a brute brute of a military leader, more so especially when let off the leash by palpitan. He would not be as blood thirsty or cruel in a demented way, So I'd say it would be likely they wouldn't be off on any jedi purges. Giving them a chance to re group and to clear their name. Although the Empire transformation was all righer transformation was already in full swing, it probably would not look the same because palpatine really was being really was driving influence for many officers and the officers and the senate itself for being so supportive of the swing over. And without any prominence of a death star or Inquisitors, there really wouldn't be a overbearingly deadly threat. Just your regular military state for a while (Side note, I'm not so sure a better suit would make Vader all that more powerful, mainly because the pain and constant reminder of his failings the suit provided was a huge power boost to him due to how the darkside feeds off that stuff)

It’s more likely that Anakin died on mustafar because the clones who were coming for him wouldn’t have known where to search. Palpatine could sense Vader’s location, but the clones would have to look all over mustafar to find him. Without Vader the empire crumbles before it can even begin, and the republic elects a new chancellor, however the Jedi are branded criminals until their innocence is proven by investigations into Palpatine’s affairs, launched by none other than Chancellor Bail Organa.
