Topsiders boat shoes are so versatile, durable, and are more comfortable now owing to better cushioning IMHO than my pairs from the 80s and 90s. They go with everything and add the preppy aesthetic. I’m still wearing them.
@emmeohohjay2749Ай бұрын
The wallabees (we called them “wallies”) were huge in the 90s early 2000s for us in the Bronx. I went to catholic school and they were acceptable for us to wear in blue or black suede with our uniform. Nearly everyone had them. I recently got myself a pair since I was one of the few that couldn’t get them back in the day:)

Clarks and the 90s haha I have fond memories of my orange suede ones. I love the color of those green ones you're showing in the video. I stan a kelly green. I have a purse that color. Since all things 90-00s are trending not surprised that they're trending again. I'm good on those specifically. May entertain a statement color or a neutral to replace a suede sneaker but I do want a pair of fringe Mocassin slippers or boots real bad. I definitely can see the sneaker charms, chains, or laces on the suede shoes. I would definitely play around with these. This would be cool on my tall lace-up boots too. I have motorcycle boots on my list too but you can't get me to rock kitten heels lol I also will hard pass on boat shoes and those Uggs you showed at the beginning

I don’t think too many of these going on my feet 😳🤪🤣 so no uggs I wear as house shoes and they are amazing, but outside no… I live in SF so I am not investing in any new boots. I probably going to repurchase the row bare sandals, maybe some ballet flats from the row or Alaiia , and I do want mules in burgundy . Also tempted to get furry zebra open toe mules. I think would be great with white dress or black outfit, to add some edge. Question is will I wear them next year, or further 🤔 I think animal print is more style than trend🤔 Have a blessed day🙏❤️

I always scope out the mens/boys shoe department for small sizes. Last summer I found a pair of Sperry Topsiders on clearance. I personally don't like boot shoes, nor Uggs nighter Clarks... I really love shoes of suede, I don't even find them hard to care about (there is kind of a rubber with which you can clean them very easily). I love kitten heels, but I find them very hard to wear becaus of the thin heel (I always have the sensation of falling aside), so they are nothing for me 🫤

I think boat shoes are just a more casual loafer really there would not be much difference in the styling but the same outfit with loafers would just be a bit more dressy than that same outfit with boat shoes they're not that different to Clarks shoes either I don't think you would need all three styles in your wardrobe maybe pick two one in leather one in suede I suppose you could get a three and have a patent leather pair if you want to be extra 😂❤

I started wearing natural tan leather boat shoes last summer when I found some AB FAB ones in perfect condition for $au20.00 by Landrover in the OPP shop! I wear them like I wear sandals but always with an anklet to feminise if the ankles show, i actually think they will be great with added shoe charms!🧐🤪I loved the comfort & the juxtaposition of the masculine with very feminine clothes… like I do with men’s blazers over my dresses… it just works, the Clark’s wallabees will give the same vibe and they also should be great quality so worth the money to buy and keep. Totally agree with the biker boot forever investment, I invested in a pair of Harley Davidson about 15 years ago, supremely comfortable, very cool and they make so many things look deliberate & interesting & high quality. My tan western boots do the same. Here in Australia we have the super comfortable Merry People Chelsea gum boots… they come in gorgeous colours and will take you anywhere and everywhere on a cold wet day! Great job as usual Leonie! Many thanks 🙏🏽🌈💖💕💖💕💖

OMG I wore these Wallabee booties in navy blue when I was in 6th grade (I’m 63 now)! My mom thought they were hideous, but I wanted them bc they were so popular. My mom was right. But when you’re young, you can get away with anything. Now no ugly shoes for me: no Crocs, Uggs (my husband always calls them Fuggs) or these nostalgic Wallabees. I look younger than my age so why look like an old lady with foot problems…I’ll stick to the cuter on trend shoes. Like I said before, if you’re young & look like a model, you can get away with anything. When you’re older, these kinds of clunky shoes just look frumpy.
@justinebarton2931Ай бұрын
I'm afraid I don't really like any of them! I'm 57 the same as you. I had a pair of blue suede wallabies back in the 80s when I was a teen. I wouldn't wear them now though. I do like them, but think I would feel like an 'old lady in comfort shoes!'. I can't believe the price of them these days though! The same goes for boat shoes. Again I had a pair, probably in the late 80s/ early 90s from a UK shop called 'Cable & Co' which has long gone. I must say I wore those boat shoes to death and they never got worn out. They were virtually indestructible. Some of those trainers look like they might actually be quite nice if they hadn't been spoilt with all those charms! I do quite like square toes though, especially in a boot or a loafer.

Not sure about the heel length rain boot, but I had knee high rainboots and it was the opposite of comfort. It wouldn't bend and was heavy so climbing up stairs was a nightmare, plus they made the feet and leg sweat like in a sauna. Pass on that trend.

I bought short rain boots in red and in dark petrol some years ago, which I don't wear in the garden but on very rainy days to go to town. They are super comfy, but I wear them only half a day. And I bought super quality knee high rain boots for gardening in Denmark, because of the weather there they offer much more choice and quality in rain boots. I don't like charms on sneakers because I think the character of sneakers doesn't match with pearls and embellishments if one is in an adult age, in my eyes it looks a bit to schoolgirlish. I also hsve no charms at my handbag, it doesn't match to my personal style. But I never say never ....
