Wasn't it nice how, at the Trooping of the Colors, she had Louis wear the outfit Harry wore as a boy? She used her grandmother's chutney recipe to make chutney for the Queen. She did all sorts of little niceties for Eugenie's wedding. I like too that Kate wears clothes made by British designers, and is frugal enough to re-wear them on occasion. Lovely, well-grounded woman. The Middletons raised her well.

It started off with the wedding of a relatively minor royal (sixth in line to the British throne), in which the bride, a 37-year-old divorcee, wore a white gown by a French designer that cost 100,000 pounds, while a preacher gave a rousing sermon about loving humanity and caring for the poor--at a 30-million-pound wedding. (Camilla, another divorcee, had the sense to wear a simple, beige dress in a simple ceremony, with no cameras in the chapel, even though Charles will be King.) Added to that, the bride invited dozens of celebrities she just met and didn't really know, but she didn't invite anyone from her own family, except her mother. Since then, Prince Harry and his wife have instagrammed preachy posts about saving the planet,but seem to be generating a very large carbon footprint of their own in the form of extensive, unnecessary helicopter rides and a lifestyle that would be lavish even for senior royals. Perhaps PH and MM would garner more respect if they would stop talking the talk altogether, as it is not their role. I think Meghan's tendency to inflate her resume and promote herself is also problematic. Underneath the hype, she is not particularly accomplished. I understand she is new to her role, so she doesn't understand that it is inappropriate to wear a hat or jeans to Wimbledon and that sort of thing. The problem seems to be that she doesn't appear willing to learn protocol. In social media and public appearances, she presents herself as the teacher, rather than as the student. Perhaps Prince Harry and his wife will earn respect from more members of the public if the Queen sends them to Africa for several years where they can live humbly, do good works out of the spotlight and refrain from attending celebrity parties or issuing Instagram posts. Having time abroad in Africa would give Meghan the time she needs to adjust to her new position, as well as the privacy she says she desires. The issue of hypocrisy must somehow be addressed or Prince Harry and Meghan's roles will become untenable.
