I actually had this idea that maybe they find Maria as an old lady. Because if she was 10 or so when we saw her, and 50 years go by, she would be in her 60s. And maybe somehow, miraculously GUN was able to revive Maria somehow, using fancy technology, but in the end they brainwash her, and she ends of living a full life with no memory of shadow and is kept hidden.

What if Maria's soul was transferred into an artificial hedgehog body, one created just for her. I mean, that will actually save Maria if you think about it. Her disease kept her from entering Earth, and the poor girl was stuck on that space colony for years until her death, pretty dark if you think about it, and the more i looked into it, I started to understand why people became fans of Shadow and it seems in the 2020's, they are finally allowing him some personality, whether fan, or cartoon, shadow is much better shown, in many ways, he reminds me of two characters, Kuma from One Piece and Vegeta from Dragon Ball. He's not a generic bad guy or anti-hero, in the fan movie I've seen, Shadow showed just how emotional and how cool he really could be! After seeing that short, I completely understand his hate towards humanity. I mean how can you forgive a race that kills such a kind and sweet soul as Maria Robotnik?!
