In an alternate story, Weol-Ju learned about her mother’s death much later than discovering her pregnancy, raised Kang-Bae by herself and kicked Yi-Hoon’s ass with totally-mama’s-boy Kang-Bae when he was old enough, but later made up when the truth was finally revealed. I’m actually super glad we aren’t in that alternate universe. XD

I just gotta say, I absolutely *love* how they set up the plot twist of their identities. In the first episodes, Weol-ju’s mom’s words about that hair clip (whatever that was) to hold unto it cause it was gonna lead her to the person she needed, and that planted the notion to the audience’s mind (mine, in particular) that maybe Kang Bae might be the crown prince Yi Hoon’s reincarnation. And throughout the episodes, we see Kang Bae displaying the little quirks of Yi Hoon with bonus flashbacks, which in my opinion, just enforces that initial notion much stronger. Because one, KB is the male lead. And two, there wasn’t any information whatsoever of another important character (like an unborn child maybe). And because the show keeps enforcing this particular _first impression_ we (I mean, I) subconsciously ignored subtle hints at the background overtime, until it becomes very obvious at the end. Like how her mother told her “You are not alone.” _coughcough_ Gwibanjang’s stolen glances at Weol Ju. And how he always seems personally offended when Weol-Ju mentions how her love life sucked, or how that jerk ruined her life, or how the only saving grace of her past life was her mother. XD Also, how he became thoughtful whenever Weol-Ju admitted she truly did love that jerk despite all that. And I always did question why he kept loitering around her, when apparently he was the chief of police and he could totally demand to transfer assignments anytime instead of sticking with her for a whole year and complaining all the way through. XD Kang Bae wasn’t the crown prince. He was the crown prince’s child. Those crown prince’s quirks were inherited. XD And because of that stupid, _stupid_ notion, I completely missed how Kang Bae’s level of empathy, that push-over personality, selflessness, and that passionate determination to get what he really wants was totally Level Weol-Ju. XD Yes, yes, I’m slow. But I was waiting for more evidence. I saw them as a family of three at the Dead Festival. But didn’t entertain the idea much until Weol-Ju herself confirmed she never got to see her own child. XD

Mystic Pop-up Bar is the best fantasy supernatural kdrama ever!! I love the ending where the 3 of them reunited and can become a family. Their family is very special because Gwibanjang was a king in his past life, and is like a police getting rid of evil spirits with his spear sword. Weol-ju has a strong connection with the spiritual and go to people’s dream help them. Kangbae has the Sacred Tree spirit in him. And his girlfriend, has the spirit of the Cinnabar Rock.

I'm missing this drama so bad. I always have separation anxiety whenever I finish a good drama. But this one, I re-watched from Ep1 immediately after I finished watching the last episodes for nth times. That's how much I love it. And this scene will always be my favorite Kdrama scene ever. Writer-nim thank you so much. I love you. Please consider writing for season 2 and give us warmth in our hearts once again.

Oh my goodness! I just finished watching Mystic Pop Up Bar on Netflix and enjoyed it tremendously, in large part because of the character Yook Sung Jae played. He was so wonderful as as socially awkward but kind-hearted, Kang Bae! Only later did I learn he is a Kpop idol with BTOB. What a talented young man! Beautiful voice!

Good "what if" scenario but it could've been better if they added a younger sibling like a sister,and also have Yeo Rin show up for a visit as his girlfriend for openers.Plus they could also expand upon this by having Weok Ju and Huibanjang make a big fuss over the fact that Kang Bae is in loving relationship with Yeo Rin
