I heard an iteration of this joke a zillion years ago but you, Gordon Grinberg, did a masterful job of getting it across!!! All these years later, it's a great great joke and you've done amazingly well with your execution of it. Thanks so much - und - zei gezint!! :)

I still laugh when I watch this. Can't help it, it's just that well constructed and executed. Mazel tov.

This is toooo good. As a silent, it builds inexorably even though most of us know the gag, so we're almost lip-reading as the boys walk down the street. Wondering how the punch line will read builds the anticipation, and the punch is so perfectly delivered that it's a joy, despite the fact that we know what's coming, anticipating the delivery. Great musical accompaniment, so apt. I'm going to send it to my friends in England, see if they know what good humo(u)r is. Excellent production values, nice costuming, greatest use of black and white since Young Frankenstein! Oy! Such a joy, I loved it.

Knowing the joke, what cracked me up completely on my first viewing- I've probably watched it literally twenty times now - was the imaginative sight gag when the young Muslim ladies turned the corner. Everybody in the neighborhood walks in pairs and dresses in black! Kudos to the director for dreaming that one up.

@@paulsherman51 Marcus Pincus fucked us. But the nun hears "factus," a Latin word -- and, of course, Marcus and Pincus happen to have Latin-sounding endings.

- Marcus Pincus fucked us!

These Talmudic students would almost certainly have conversed with each other in Yiddish rather than the totally different Hebrew which they pray in..

+Perry Hamburg Yiddish, Shmiddish! And anyway, A) It's only the nun who refers to Hebrew; they very well could have been speaking Yiddish. And B) Please remember that, for most jokes to work, there has to be a suspension of disbelief.
