I hope your tube manufacturing plant is open and thriving. Kudos to you!

Praise the Lord. I've been waiting for tube manufacturing to come back to USA. The Audiophile Gods have been listening to my pleas. Long live vacuum tubes and long live Charles Whitener. This man has the right vision.

Mr. Whitener is impressive. I feel good with him at the helm of the company. I am moving to tubes, and am excited to support a U.S. company with the courage to take on this space. I'll bet that their tubes will be fabulous, their amps will be successful, and they will succeed at whatever additional markets they decide to enter. Good on ya, mate! (And I am not Australian!)

Thank you for this great interview. I am happy you brought over the EI equipment. I have a pair of EI branded NOS 12AX7s in my home made monoblocks and must say they sound amazing. Can't wait for the WE 12AX7s :)

Fascinating... I don't quite understand how they are able to stay afloat over the years after getting the rights from AT&T.... Bravo for investing in the USA !!!

I have been unimpressed with some of the tubes coming out of Russia and China. With the plethora of Tube Guitar Amplifiers and old tube stereo equipment, and even new tube equipment being developed it seems like you could build and market these tubes again. I'm talking about some of the most popular tube sizes to start with such as 12AX7, 7027, 7591, 6CA7, 7199, 6GH8A, etc. I own a Fisher 300, Dynaco ST70, EICO ST70, Scott LK72, Fisher 1800, Sansui T1000, and a Stromberg Carlson Stereo 60. I would love to see US quality tubes being manufactured again in the states.

How can an organization called The Absolute Sound make KZbin videos that are recorded with the audio level way too low?
@Ockhamcool Жыл бұрын
I feel your pain, but trust me...audio guys know nothing about video and video guys know nothing about audio! I spent 40+ professional years in that field. I've seen this so many times I lost count. Rest assured it has nothing to do with Absolute sound and everything to do with the company who shot the video. And, before you toss them under the bus, try doing it yourself. You might find it to be a little more challenging that you think. The producer, probably the guy on the right, wanted to shoot in Western Electric corporate headquarters. OK so, non-acoustically conditioned environments. They are both average non-professional sounding guys - which means they are not projecting, which means a terrible signal to noise ratio. The space has lots of glass, which makes for lots of ugly reflections. The room has lots of loud air-conditioning, just out of sight and right over their heads, which further degrades the S/N ratio. They aren't wearing close mics, because the camera operator doesn't want to see wires and mics in the shot (go figure...) Plus, and a lot of other things I won't go into that make great audio for video really tough. I've literally begged directors to let me put mics where they would work on industrials like this. "NO! I don't want to see a mic...it'll ruin the illusion" whatever that is... sigh🙆♂

@@Ockhamcool It’s not rocket science. All that is needed is a microphone on each person talking. They are just too lazy or too cheap to do that.

What made you look at Western Electric as an Audio company? Inert and vibration resistant potting compound is something to research. When mating the tube to the base.
@Pisti8464 ай бұрын
Tubes were used in telephone amplification. Western Electric was big in film sound until the Feds made them spin off Westrex.

I haven't heard many amps with the 300B but I heard a system with an integrated amp that used 300Bs and it was one of the worst systems I've ever heard but it used a CD player as a source and some smaller 2 way speakers. I know some people love single ended amps using big triode output tubes but I have yet to hear any that sound good to me. It might be that people don't know how to use these tubes properly. Or I just haven't heard a good one yet.
