Another way to look at it is an iPad is one giant screen, so the one with the best screen? Unfortunately that’s super expensive but a 12.9” ProRes m1 iPad sells on eBay for a similar price as the baseline IPad which is pretty insane value. Food for thought :)

For those who absolutely want 120hz or those who are thinking of getting a 10th gen iPad, A refurbished 2018 iPad Pro is the way to go. A12x is still killer! Amazon is selling the 512gb models at $440 after tax!( Excellent condition ) 256gb for $410. Best choice for people who don’t want to spend $1000+ on an iPad.

As a student, I can recommend 10th gen iPad. It’s very useful especially for university use. It’s not overwhelming, it’s cheaper than other iPad models but has a sleek design and newer than the 9th gen. Also, the camera is in landscape mode so when I film myself for a presentation or do online lectures, I don’t look awkward. I also finished my research paper completely reliant on this iPad.

@@inkapabel I use a keyboard but it’s not from apple. It’s a cheaper alternative. Also, I don’t use pencil to write notes since mostly, I just type everything. When I do type my notes as word document, I export it to the book app and it will automatically convert as PDF. Since there’s a feature to highlight documents, I just use my finger to highlight important details. Tho, I’m planning to buy an apple pencil or a stylus.

The USB C pencil is worth getting if you’re using it for note taking. I have the Apple Pencil Pro and it is trash when I’m trying to write notes in Freeform or the Notes app using the calligraphy tool because that barrel roll feature messes up my handwriting. And what’s great is that the pencil is compatible with all the iPads currently in the market.

im using the ipad 6th gen. does decent but is bad at playing games. its too laggy, something i dont understand is that quite literally 2 months ago, i had absolutely 0 lag on games but all of a sudden i lag in every game i play. not only that, but i somehow am lagging when i scroll through articles, even my keyboard lags. cant wait to buy the 10th gen. if the 11th gen comes out early im definitely going for it. its probably just because ive been using it for 5 and a half years but its still confusing how a random lag spike happens like that.

I have the latest Pro 13 and the iPad mini and I don’t think I’d recommend them to anyone even though I love it. They’re very niche enthusiast devices. I agree with the recommendations here - if you are looking for a simple iPad, go for the 10th gen iPad. If you want a nice secondary laptop style experience, get the 13’ Air. If Apple were to trim down their product portfolio, it would simply come down to keeping the basic iPad and the current Air (maybe with a 120hz option). And hopefully one pencil to support both lines. Everything else in their iPad lineup is unnecessary right now.

I went from PC desktop to PC laptop to iPad….and, since 2017, have remained iPad only. Basic stuff, obviously, but also tons of pdfs with my nerd old-school rpg (D&D and more)… also, more importantly, I’ve been using just and only base model (except for storage) iPads to do full-on music creation/production with multiple apps, etc for years. Never once needed an iPad Air nor an iPad Pro. Also, as I’ve transferred everything from iPad to iPad, and saving tons of docs, samples, music files, music production tools, etc….. I’ve used a total of 52GB…..over 7 years! My “basic” 2020 iPad can still do everything and anything I throw at it. There are absolutely and inarguable cases wherein ya need more, perhaps a whole lot more….but, don’t be fooled into imagining ya need the latest and greatest iPad.

anything above 11 inch is a pain to have to continuously hole in your hand, sure you can get a cover etc but the big screen Ipads or tablets in general can't do anything better than a 4K laptop with OLED and you can sit it on your lap, adjust the screen without having to hold it. I do love my Ipad air 5th Gen though. Just wish it had a proper OS. For most people though who just browse and look at streaming media a cheaper OLED android would probably be better with better aspect ratio for watching movies, netflix etc.

I'm eyeing the mini as a companion device for my Tab S9+. The Galaxy device already checks a lot of stuff, like the landscape camera, 4k video video, oled, s-pen, hover features, art programs, DEX, and many other things. I need the mini for sketching on the go, better palm rejection using Procreate, Adobe apps and the pencil ( I have the Wacom One pen, but Apple does the pencil nib better.)

I actually use the cellular feature on both my iPad 9th gen and 10th gen because there will be times when that will come in very handy for you. Their are times when you won't have access to wifi i highly recommend it. I have been using the hatoku gen 1 and recently bought the hatoku gen 2 apple pencil alternative at $20 from amazon you can't go wrong just fyi I'm not an artist i only use it for productivity purposes.

The iPad (10th Generation) is the best value device on the market, full stop. For a lot of users, they don’t need all the power of the laptop and the iPad provides a high-quality and provides an inexpensive alternative to a laptop. My wish for the iPad range is that Apple gives the iPad Mini and the iPad the same tech specs and adds a 13” model to the base range. On pure units sold, Apple sells 2.2 iPad units for every MacBook sold; thus, having an additional 13” model will give end users more options.

Hi, Vahid from Hamburg has a suggestion for you: Please make your voice on video with a normal speed of talking and more naturally. It seems that after recording, you increase the speed of your speaking in the final cut. This decreases the understanding for non-English speakers and makes your videos, or similar ones, more annoying. I think that I read somewhere that the cellular version also means the inclusion of GPS/location services. While cellular in itself might not be so important , the location services is much more useful for the user experience in some apps.

The Wi-Fi models omit GPS, true, but location services as implemented in most apps (say those who don't need to pinpoint you down to the decimal coordinate, but rather need to know your current street) still typically work just fine as they do on for example a Mac. The device just uses your local IP and triangulates known Wi-Fi SSIDs to get a rough idea of where you are.

Hi Tom, so my old iPad 2017 pro was on its last legs. So I decided to upgrade a week ago to the new iPad Pro. And have to say your content looks amazing on this new OLED screen. I really only need it for casual use. Surfing the web, KZbin, email that sort of thing. But wanted to treat myself and also future proof myself at the same time as I plan to keep it for 5 plus years. And of course I got the Magic Keyboard to go with the 13 inch pro. My heart tells me to keep it. But…my brain says for that money get the MacBook Pro. If you can salary sacrifice the new iPad and have an older one to trade in, the cost can be less than half retail, which makes it a much better deal if it’s an option available to you, and the screen on the new M4s is nothing short of phenomenal, the only let down is iPadOS, and personally I’d have been happy with a thicker iPad with longer battery life, but Apple will always do what Apple does 😂
