Exactly!!! That really bothers me a lot, which is why I emphasized it so much. It *is* easier to set up and take down, but only the part where you’re down to dealing with the poles. Everything else takes *exactly* the same amount of time with this tent than others.

Hi - Just thought I'd let you know ... after watching your video, we decided to buy the Gazelle T4 Plus Overlander! Just arrived and we're letting it warm up (was below freezing temps during its transit). Our first camping trip will be 5/19/23! We actually ordered 3 other tents prior and returned them (Amazon was NOT happy! Oh well). We ordered the Gazelle from the manufacturer. So excited about using this tent. It's everything we were looking for. Thank you for your video.

How did it do on your first weekend?
@alwaysvictoria9455 Жыл бұрын
@@redgreengrass Wow, thanks for asking! It was fantastic! My first camping experience and I enjoyed it all. We did have some good luck to be able to scoff up a cancellation for a lakeside site. That made all the difference in the world (esp seeing the dud we booked originally - lol). The tent performed like a champ! Fri night until about 4pm on Sat, weather fine. Then the rain started and eventually the skies opened up. Two huge bouts of pounding rain and wind and the tent didn't budge in the slightest. Rock solid. We went right back to sleep because we felt totally secure in it. We shopped for months for this purchase, and even ended up returning three other tents (we hadn't even opened them because they were so light weight). This tent is substantial, well designed and assembled with care. We couldn't be more pleased owning this one! Thank you so much for your video.

We’re you able to get the floor any tighter or “flat” so many videos on this tent and they look like the floor is uncomfortable and wrinkled. That would work on my OCD😅
@alwaysvictoria9455 Жыл бұрын
@@brandihowell4740 Unfortunately, no. Kinda gets to me, too. The floor should be a bit bigger to help avoid the curve at juncture of wall and ground. However ... small trade off for a dry as a bone tent! We were just in a horrible wind/rain storm last weekend (gusts 35mph, torrential downpour which lasted about 5 hours) and not a drop inside.

Very good demonstration of setting up the tent. Nice to finally hear someone reviewing these Gazelle tents say it takes longer than 60 or 90 seconds to set up a tent and then you are done. And good to even point out things like pushing the ground sheet under the tent so rain doesn’t collect and a method for pulling tent pegs. Obviously not your first rodeo. A demonstration of the tent in the rain was also informative. Well done sir.

I have the T4 and as a 73 yr old female I can put it up in 5-10 min by myself; much easier with a helper. I have to buy a pop up screen room but I’d love the plus with attached screen room! May have to rig up a cover connecting the two. If raining I sleep in my in my minivan. It was worth what I paid a couple years ago. Clam screen room with no floor will fit over a picnic table. Mosquitos are big prob in my area.

A very comprehensive review of this tent . I’m watching from Australia and there is one major flaw in this tent that just won’t work in Australia , that being the gap where the crickets got in . Crickets are no big deal but seeing as Australia has many deadly snakes and spiders it’s a big NO for me , the other issue that is a red flag is the price , $3500.00 Au dollars for this tent is daylight robbery which doesn’t include postage . Thanks for taking the time and effort to post this review for us .

I’m a bit older than most tent campers, campus, same arthritic issues that some have. I have been looking at the T4 and the T 8 tents, thinking that it should be pretty easy to set up and take down. I’m going to try to find a camping store around me that might have one on display that I can see how hard it is to pull the sides out and push them back in thinking it shouldn’t be that hard I love this chat this would save me from buying two items, the tent, and then the screened in canopy, thank you for such a fantastic overview of this tent. I think you’re sold me on it.

Thank you so much for an honest review. I bought two of these a few days ago hoping for the best. After watching you I think I made the right decision. Bad reviews about abrasions on the fabric during transit has been fixed (May 2023). On some job sites I live in a tent for 2 months or more, so I need a great tent. Right now my go-to tent is the E-Z UP Camping Cube which is great, this one is better. I climbed Mount Whitney, so I have slept in a shell of a tent. Climbing and camping is different, if you have the room to fit this in your car it is incredible.

Great review and advice on many parts of setting up the T4+. That Gazelle footprint is more expensive, but it is also incredibly tough as well and I like that it fits the parameter of tent perfectly without adjustment. Also, when setting up on gravel or rocky ground, put the 2x2 interlocking foam squares over the footprint to protect the bottom of the tent from getting punctured or worn. It helps your feet inside of the tent too! :)

We spent our first weekend stranded in serious rain storm. We stayed safe and dry. I loved it but was impossible for this grandma. So, I sold it and got a 20# north face wawona. As an owner I have to say this is by far the best overview of the T4+ anywhere. I actually even learned a few thing. I run the screen room floorless as our muck/chair area and I have had to trench a few times in weather like that lol. The one caution I would note is I had the retention grommets fail (the grommets in the four corners that hold the poles the fly connects to). They just tore out mid season. Gazelle opted to replace the unit but probably could have been fixed. Just be aware, lot of tension on those grommets even when packed up. The other middle poles dead-end into sleeves which are more robust. Understand the design compromise here just something you may want to keep an eye on so you don’t discover an issue in the filed as I did.

I wanted to buy one to save setup time at camp because if weather permits we camp nearly every weekend, beautiful tent but it takes way to long and takes up to much room for what it’s worth, thanks for showing a real setup and everything involved, it would be fine for a long weekend but we setup and take down for one night and this looks like a pain in the butt, wife and I tried that mattress for one night together and sent it back the next day, we use a milliard 6" foam tri fold when truck camping, when motorcycle and car we use either Mec reactor 10 duo or our Exped megamat duo, all of these are 10X warmer and more comfy than a just air mattress but your low to the ground which we prefer

Well , I got my standard T4 last September. I didn't get to use it , because last years Canoe Adventure got canceled. So in preparation for this years 35 Night Canoe trip , I set it up and tested it out in rainy weather. Glad I did too , because it definitely leaks. I cut a tarp to size for under the tent and cut another for inside the tent. At first I thought it didn't leak a drop. But then found water under the tarp that I used as a floor liner. Didn't find any on top of the floor liner though , so that makes me think it leaked through the walls and ran under the floor liner. So , I just ordered 3 cans of Kiwi water proofing spray. Hopefully thats does the trick. It's sad though , it shouldn't leak at all. If the spray fixes the problem , which I won't know until the Adventure in September , then i guess it was still a good buy for ease of set up. I'll just spray it every year. Gazelle needs to fix this issue though.

Tried your links to support your channel but Amazon were sold out sorry! Can’t wait to receive mine and try it out. Summer’s coming Downunder and I see a beach holiday in my future!! Many thanks for your great review - your enthusiasm is infectious! Hope your still enjoying your tent?

Awesome! Yes, I get out about once per month, though my favorite spots are closed through February due to lack of off-season staffing. :(

What are your long term thoughts on the design of the velcro detachable floor? I've seen some other review mention that it can be a hassle to get the velcro lined up when using the door on the open screened in area, and it can be a real easy way for insects and even rodents to get in the tent. I'm not sure what the thinking was around that part of the design. It seems like it would be plenty easy to sweep/wipe out the floor without needing to detach it to clean it.

Use a cordless Blower. It's easy and quick.

Have you thought about putting a rubber mallet to hammer spike in also in your bag. I don't have to Gazelle I bought the off brand and I keep a rubber mallet in the bag for that use.

Wow that was a great review! How cool was it experiencing rain in summer?! Haven't seen rain since early March

Daily thunderstorms are pretty typical for August here in NC. They can actually be pretty dangerous if you're not indoors, too. That's why I ended up in my truck for one of them. Hope you get rain soon!
