this is a great tutorial thanks! but I havent been able to use it bc the mac version (using updated excel 365 for mac) seems to have the very same button (from web) but it won't open any box where to insert the link... any idea on why it wouldn't work on excel for mac or whether anyone has found the same predicament as I had? once again, thanks for your tutorial. Hi Tech Train, thank you for the perfectly explained video. Please, may you advise how we can create a table with formula, that allows the previous currency conversions to remain the unchanged and only new and future currency conversions to be updated. For example, if on 22/03/2021 I've recorded £1 = $1.50 and today £1 = $1.30, I would like my table to only change todays value and leave yesterdays as it was? Many thanks

hi, I have a table with multiple items in need of currency conversion. Some of a currency of the same date, and some of other dates. (for instance, several items bought on same day with different prices in need of conversion, and other items bought on a different day, all varrying in prices) I have made two sheets one with currencies pullled from the net, the other with item names, prices, and spaces for conversion beside each. Is there a way of doing multiple silmutaniously? or a pre-set? or is it smth to be done one by one?

Thanks so much for this tutorial it was so helpful ... is there a possibility to make it vice-versa which means i can enter UK to be converted to US and also enter US to be converted to UK in the same cells?

Hello, I have the same issue as many others here, with the error "#value!". The formula is correct and everything looks exactly like in your video. I notice that if I manually change the value in the table (from the website) the formula works but as soon as I "refresh" the table the formula goes back to the error... I don't understand what's wrong with it if you could help it would be very kind of you. Thank you :) PS: I just found the problem! The table shows the number as for example 0.18548 if I change the dot "." to a comma "," then it works, but again as soon as the table is refreshed the new data will appear with the dot instead of the comma, do you know any way around it?

I have a BANK statement and have a bunch of dates in it with my spendings, the spendings are all in lira. All i wanna do is to see what are the equivalent of those spendings in USD. In other words I want to get the currency exchange rate for all the specific dates provided on the bank statement so as to multiply them with the amount of TRY spent on that specific date to see how much was spent in USD.

Excellent, How do you convert these data to numbers?
@TheTechTrain4 жыл бұрын
Do you mean how to format the numbers as currency? Just highlight the cells, go to Format Cells at the top and then choose the currency option, and change the symbol to the one appropriate.

@@TheTechTrain Excuse me for being unclear. The number i get from the import, doesn't work in my calculations, I only get: #VALUE! I tried to format to numbers and even multiply the cell with "1" On my excel I need to put " , " before decimals. Do you know how to fix this problem?

how do you make it update live?
@TheTechTrain4 жыл бұрын
It does that automatically. Every time you enter a value, it will access the online currency rates and do the calculation using the latest data. If you press F9 it will also do an update on data already entered.

Hi - when I try to load the data (also from floatrates) it doesn't bring up the table of data on a new worksheet but a table with column headings like title, description, xmllink, etc. The 'Navigator' box that appears in your tutorial doesn't pop up for me, allowing me to select 'Table 0' in the way you do. Thank you so much for this great video and the sublime explanation. However, I have a problem I am not getting a normal currency indication I will give an example. ₺8.623.242 These are Turkish lira or so the swiss francs CHF 1,075,516 looks like in the converted version. This is the conversion rate from euro to currency as I video you. The turkish lira should indicate this ₺ 862.32 CHF 107.55 and that does not work, you have a solution for that. greetings Henk

How to refresh the currency rates?
@TheTechTrain4 жыл бұрын
The spreadsheet uses live online currency rates, so whenever you open the spreadsheet it pulls the live rates from the web and uses the most up to date exchange rates for the calculations.

That means your formula is trying to do a calculation with a cell that contains data that isn't valid - such as trying to add two cells, one of which contains a word rather than a numeric value.
