Hell yeah! What a perfect timing, just last week I was researching how to do this job on my bmw! Thanks for the video, Chris.

Ancient Greeks used hot steam iron to get rid of the wrinkles on their suede headliners :) that's an ancient pro tip

Great Job man! I did similar job 2 weeks ago but I changed mine to oem anthracite alcantara and its looking amazing! you have back seats, I bet the black or charcoal would look better to hide all the wrinkles! great work again, No one is perfect and we learn from each others!

Where did you get the material? Wagon is a nightmare to disassemble. Not because it's difficult, the plastic is very glass like brittle and the replacement new parts are definitely over priced. Used Will be in poor shape

@@garrettgiuffre7298 it’s is nightmare for any car if you are in hurry, I got mine off eBay, I had to wait and ask sellers for discounts, or best offer and I got it, it was used but in good shape and I paid about $700 shipped for the set as headliner, trims and covers

I did the headliner on my e39 sedan slicktop about 2 years ago, previous one was gray, recovered it in black, perforated fabric bought off a random listing I found online and it's been good ever since. Some mistakes due to it being the first one I've ever done, and I gotta say, it's not really worth painting the accessories black, they are mostly fine, but if you look really close you can see paint chipping in the tight spots, most likely due to me not doing it properly, even though I did use plastic primer. I would say if you're gonna convert to black it's worth buying the black accessories if you can find them.

Also a good tip is to use one of those spongey sandpaper blocks that are single use to remove the old foam, you can sand it, the part you glue the material to is pretty solid, you don't need to worry about sanding it with a 180 grit sanding sponge

How many cans of adhesive did you use for the entire headliner ONLY, excluding pillars etc. just the headliner. I want to know how many cans I will need so I don’t purchase too many
@TheBimmerBarn2 жыл бұрын
2 Cans should do just the roof. hope that helps!

I have to do this on my 03' E39. Is this glue better than 3M?

Can't say I've tried the 3M, but this glue was definitely easy for me to use, and has held up against the test of time too!

How many yards should I buy to do my E46?
@TheBimmerBarn2 жыл бұрын
6 yards to be safe, 5 would likely work well for a coupe. It's good to have extra to redo the smaller bits if you mess up!

Be VERY careful removing plastics from your Bimmers. BMW plastics from this era are very bad. Now that most of the e46 models are 20 years old, the plastics have been exposed to high heat and sunlight which has made it very brittle.
