I always thought it sounded very much inspired from the Art of War from Sun Tzu , most notably the part where he describes that " ultimate Victory is to subdue your enemy without fighting " . In this case well , fight him and soon he will realise that it was a mistake to engage you in the first place . Either way , it makes me think there might be some of " Cardassian Art of War " , a general code and ideals enforced in the military . It wouldn't be surprising given how the Army holds such an important position in Cardassian society and hierarchy .

Ooh well, let me tell you a story. I once knew a Cardassian, a dashing, handsome young man with a promising career, but one day, through no fault of his own, he found himself exciled and alone with nowhere to turn. But did he give up? No. He struck upon a brilliant plan: instead of fleeing for the rest of his life he sought shelter in the one place no one expected him to go: in a stronghold of his people's most hated enemies. There, surrounded by hostile strangers, he built a life and there, against all odds, against the merciless logic of the universe itself, he thrived.

DS9 might have singlehandedly made the Cardassians the most well-realized alien race in Star Trek, perhaps even more than the Klingons, Romulans or Borg. The fact that they are so devious, and at times unlikable, yet their motives are completely understandable and the outcome of their choices so tragic in the end, makes for such a compelling sci-fi race.

This video highlights how obvious it is that the Cardassians began as a crappy knockoff of the Romulans. However since DS9 was such a deep and well-developed show they soon surpassed the Romulans and became more interesting.

I think it's a shame the Romulans never got developed all that well , they're my favourite species , second only to the Cardassians . I love Cardassia by far my favourite Trek race and I love how fleshed out they were during DS9. One thing that always bothers me though: people always say (like in this video) that the Cardassian fleet learned about the bombings on Cardassia and defected but this makes no sense. At the time they defected the rebellion had cut off Cardassia's long range communications so that the Dominion leadership couldn't contact their fleet and oversee the battle (leading to their centre being kept thin and easy to punch through). Its only after this happens that communications are restored and the Dominion learns that the Cardassians have defected leading to the female changling ordering the entire population exterminated. Therefore it should have been impossible for the fleet to learn what had happened on Cardassia and for that to cause them to defect.

cmdraftbrn in 5th Edition Matt Ward blew in and changed the fluff for Necrons, essentially turning them from soulless death bots into Tomb Kings in SPEHSS. In addition to this, the entire deal with the C'tan got changed as well. Some people like this change, some don't. I personally see no reason why TI would even bother to do a 4th edition Necron video because A. It's not canon, and B. Before they were given actual motivations they were honestly boring and the only thing they would be saying the entire video is "they want to kill everything." Pretty sure 1d4chan has a pretty good and simple description on how Necrons changed after Matt Ward

Over the following two years, the Khitomer Accords between the Klingon Empire and the UFP were expanded to include the Cardassian Union and the Ferengi Alliance.
