The world eaters slaughtered their way through 70 sectors with Angron leading them in m40, Death Guard almost destroyed Ultramar and have their own mini empire now, and thousand sons fucked over fenris big time and then parked their planet of the sorcerers and prospero next to Mordia. while Abby failed 12 times to even get the ball rolling, and when he did, he literally had to throw a Blackstone fortress at cadia because he would’ve been beaten otherwise

I think the video missed a vital part. Abaddon went on a sort of Pilgrimage with Horus' flag ship- The Vengeful Spirit, essentially leaving his former legion to fall. Then he gathered warriors of different warbands and it is with them that he destroyed Horus' corpse and defeated a clone made from it. The entire point of the Black Legion was that its members would no longer be shackled by the past and forge a new brotherhood not of shared blood, but of a shared purpose. Additionally, Black Legion started off as an insult used to mock their armor color and them being an impure mongrel legion, but in spite they adopted it as a their name. Furthermore, they were the very first traitor marines to launch a successful attack against the Imperium, none before them had dared to try and leave the Eye.

I'll say one thing for the Black Legion: they're definitely persistent. Most traitors tend to give up after two or three times. Abaddon made a dozen failed attempts but still kept trying. The real question is whether or not 13 will finally be the one victory he truly craves... Anyway, I've been waiting for this video for a long time. Hope you'll do the other Traitor Legions soon.

To give a bit more detail to the beginning areas for those still learning about warhammer to give clarity to things glossed over, Horus never actually managed to infiltrate the imperial palace. Stalled by the Marshall skill of Sanguinius and the defensive tactics of Rogal Dorn despite greatly outnumbering their forces. Horus was beginning to run out of time as the ultramarines, dark angels, and space wolves were coming from behind. Taking a gambit he dropped the shields on his flagship which got the emperor to teleport onto his ship for a decapitation strike along with Sanguinius and Rogal. Not knowing reinforments we’re in route due to the siege of terra going on around them. Horus killed Sanguinius and wounded the emperor before being struck down and his soul destroyed.

I wonder if the Black Legion intentionally does not defeat the Imperium in totality, letting its prey live on for another day, so that it can farm emotions to the one god (and its four hypostases it has) endlessly. Chaos does not want the Imperium to end as that is its food source. Chaos is not a predator but a parasite. This might be what they mean by the “Long War”.

different ways. some space marine chapters fall naturally when they're declared renegades and will often hide in areas like the maelstrom or eye of terror because simply put they have nowhere else to go, from then on it's a slow slide to insanity until they become chaos corrupted. another way is the same way that normal space marines are made, after all a good chunk of the mechanicum split off into the dark mechanicum and took geneseed with them. any geneseed the chaos space marines don't have are stolen in raids on imperials. as for recruits they're generally from the slaves they capture from raids, you'd think slaves would be reluctant to join the ranks of their slavers but the thing with slavery in chaos is that the populace winds up liking it. it's a living hell for them, but it's a hell they come to enjoy.

It’s funny to me just how similar the Imperium and the Black Legion are. You could mistake the Black Templars for the Black Legion or the Iron Hands for the Iron Warriors. This is probably intentional ironic writing by GW’s part. The Emperor is basically a reflection of Chaos Undivided. (And if the Dark King theory is true (although I prefer the Star Father concept) then he is a Chaos God in ascension.)
