On the last question, if 62.5 ml is the amount of cola , and then 325 ml will be the amount of lemonade, hence their sum will be 387.5. After we get this value 112.5 ml is left for water, but from question water only have 30% of the total of two containers because it only found in the first container, so that, how come 112.5 amount is left for water?

hey phillip , i have a doubt on the last question, you said 1/4 of the mixture of glass B is in the resulting glass , but isn't it the calculation just for lemonade , so it is 1/4 of 65% of the resultant glass not 1/4 of the entire resultant glass. hence you cannot calculate 1/2 of 1/4 is the cola in the resultant glass. am I right?
@TheTestedTutor3 жыл бұрын
No the 1/4 is for all of Glass B, not just its lemonade. This trick always gets you the overall proportion instantly...

I got 43.75 ml for the last example. Here's my thought process: if 65% of the final mixture is lemonade then, the remaining 35% would be a mixture of water and cola. This now provides a weighted average for a water and cola mixture. Then, that 35% became my middle number while 30% and 50% where the values for water and cola respectively. Obviously, my answer was different from yours (so, possibly wrong) but I am finding it hard to pick out the error in my logic.
@abhisheksah18679 ай бұрын

@aanshipaudel2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for the informative video, you've truly been of great help. However, I have a doubt in the last problem. At 13:35, you have mentioned that out of 500 ml mixture, 1/4 is from glass B. But that 1/4 is just from 65% of the mixture, not the whole 500 ml mixture. In other words, Glass B has contributed 1/4 of the 65% of the mixture, not the 500 ml mixture, isn't it?
@TheTestedTutor2 жыл бұрын
The 65% is different, about the lemonade percentage of each. We only use that to work out the ratio of A and B. The 1/4 we get is now of the total, not just of the lemonade.

I've the same conundrum aswell
@Ghazalsoroush2 жыл бұрын
I have the same understanding problem, I tried to watch 2 more times the last example, but I don't get how you related the ratios of lemonade to get the part of Cola, thanks btw for everything.
@santhoshj68542 жыл бұрын
@Meghana Sharma For anyone reading the comments, the final ratio 3:1 (A:B) is the ratio in 500 ml of total mixture and not just the lemonade. You can prove this by taking 250 ml of A and B. Considering same percentages of cola, water and lemonade in A and B, you will have: A (175 ml lemonade and 75ml water) B(125ml of cola and lemonade). So final mixture will have 300 ml of lemonade which is 60 percent of final 500 ml mixture. So if you apply the same method, you will have the ratio 1:1 in the number line, for 50,60,70 percentages of lemonade, which as u can see is the ratio of A:B in final mixture and not just the lemonade.
@TheTestedTutor2 жыл бұрын
We use lemonade only because we have the percentages for each of them and also a middle number average. This then reveals how much B is as a fraction of total. Then as only B has cola we just find half of B.
