In this Selenium Webdriver Tutorial we will learn How to Handle Dropdown in Selenium WebDriver.
In this part-1 of handling dropdown tutorial we will learn how to use following methods for selecting values in dropdown. Selenium provides Select class which has these methods to work with single select dropdowns.
✅ selectByIndex(int index) - Select the option at the given index.
✅ selectByValue(java.lang.String value) - Select all options that have a value matching the argument.
✅ selectByVisibleText(java.lang.String text) - Select all options that display text matching the argument.

sir i have a doubt in this, in the earlier video of CSS selectors video you use normally css selector to find element in a drop down which is made through Select tag. Main question : Why we are using Select Class when we can find the element normally through css or xpath?

hey varun the main use of using select class over xpath and css selectors is that it helps us or it provides us more inbuilt or predefined functionalities / functons (like selecting by value or selecting the option by visible text or selecting the option by index which is not possible by using css or xpath ,hence we use select ) if still not clear try selecting the third option when a drop down list appears using xpath or css its not possible to do that hence select is used hopefully it helps you :) , cheers and keep learning !
