At the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, there’s nothing like seeing the stars over the Lone Star State in a part of Texas known for having one of the darkest skies in the country.

That was a good night. Y'all were so friendly and asked some good questions. I'm the one assisting at the eyepiece of the Otto. Miss this job!

The Observatory has a wonderful visitors' center; I highly recommend it to anyone travelling through that part of the country. Make sure you sign up for a Star Party! Ideally on a day when the Moon will not be up in the evening. You can make a whole vacation of it by adding your picks of Big Bend, Carlsbad Caverns, and Guadalupe Mountains parks.

I quit this video about halfway through. It's less about the observatory than it is about the guy who does all that talking at the very beginning. When I want to watch a video on McDonald Observatory, I want the focus to be on the Observatory, not some talking head whose just making a superficial video to get views, likes, and subscribes.
