Lived there for a couple of years in the late 70’s. It was a lovely Market town back then. I think the Green King beer assisted seeing ghostly figures on the trip home over Nun’s bridge.

A very interesting ghost/timeslip case happened at the Priory. There were four young guys who visited it late in the evening. They saw a rather angry looking man staring at them from the top of the building, then he began to walk down the stairs. Two of them, convinced it was someone playing a joke, ran at him, only for him and the stairs to vanish, with them ending up on the ground. One of them, Chris Jensen Romer ended up joining the SPR and had two other possible time slip experiences. The remains of the stairs are still visible there.

Regularly go walking in the area since last winter but have avoided the parts near the river on account of the flooding. Will have to go have a look now things have dried out.

one of the well known haunted locations of the town i knew of when growing up there was Joe blunts lane to the north of the town, he was said to have hung himself from the railway bridge which passes over the lane.

hope you don't mind me commenting....I've been to Thetford Warren Lodge - first as a kid in the 60s and again in the mid 80s ... on the latter occasion i made contact with the spirit of a small man i rags, very dirty, shifty in nature who simply...vanished ...the place has a very odd feel to it for sure....if i ever get back to Thetford i'd like to stay in the very haunted Bell Inn and see if I can make contact with the spirit of Elizabeth Radcliffe
