Wholeheartedly agree with Slap Stick - the American animation had character which Williams robbed it of in the do-over. Of course, it's out of context without seeing the completed film, but still...

The bizzare thing is that I feel like if the Richard Williams of the 80s directed the scene, he might have wanted it done in a completely different way. 60s Richard Williams worked in a more stylized manner, similar to UPA where he used to work. But the Roger Rabbit era Williams might have liked the first animation take better.
