I had an older sister, who read Greek mythology to me at bedtime. It's one of my fondest childhood memories. It also put god claims into perspective for me. Later in Sunday school i ask so many questions, they told my mom i was disrupting the class. She was embarrassed and never made me go back. As an adult I understand I why the religious target children, use assertions as place holders for answers and pretend to be offended by critical analysis of the Bible.

I feel lucky to have had atheist parents. When I was a kid and my dad was driving for hours, headed to the coast for family holidays, the playlist wasn't Bible Stories - it was the 13-hour BBC Radio adaptation of "The Lord of the Rings" interspersed with some Pink Floyd. Blessed :)

In my opinion one of the best adaptations of LOTR ever if not the best.
@blatherskite30097 ай бұрын
@@Bryan198026 Yes, still love it. It bridges the gap between the Bakshi animated film (having some of the same actors as that version, most notably the same Gollum) and Jackson's live-action trilogy. Jackson obviously loved the BBC radio version growing up (they get the BBC down there in NZ) because there are some nice homages to it in his films - not least having Ian Holm, the actor who played young Frodo in the BBC radio version, now playing the older Bilbo in his LOTR films.

My favorite child appropriate story in the Bible: Jezebel, the wife of King Ahab of Israel. After Ahab dies in battle, one of Ahab's generals, Jehu, initiates a coup d'etat against Ahab's son, Joram. So Jehu with his army meets Joram on the road to Samaria, the capital of Israel, and Jehu immediately chases down Joram and his bodyguards and murders them. When Jehu and his army arrive in Samaria, Jezebel comes out onto her balcony in all her fineries, looking to welcome the troops. Instead, Jehu orders Jezebel's servents to throw Jezebel off the balcony. She hits the ground so hard the blood splatters the walls. Then Jehu has a feast to celebrate his victory. At the end of the feast Jehu suddenly gets a conscience and thinks that Jezebel should have a proper burial, but it's too late. When the burial crew gets to her body she has already been devoured by stray dogs. All that's left of her are her head, hands and feet. Best part of this whole story? The prophet Elisha--a venerated prophet of God--told Jehu that God wanted all of this barbarity to occur because of Ahab's failure to worship God properly. Indeed, if you read the entire Bible, it seens rather clear that God revels in having those who disobey Him massacred in the most brutal manners. Sleep tight, kids!

It's not just way back 'then', it's now. From Nov. 2004 press release: "An Israeli army officer who repeatedly shot a 13-year-old Palestinian girl in Gaza dismissed a warning from another soldier that she was a child by saying he would have killed her even if she was three years old. The officer, identified by the army only as Captain R, was charged this week with illegal use of his weapon, conduct unbecoming an officer and other relatively minor infractions after emptying all 10 bullets from his gun's magazine into Iman al-Hams when she walked into a "security area" on the edge of Rafah refugee camp last month. A tape recording of radio exchanges between soldiers involved in the incident, played on Israeli television, contradicts the army's account of the events and appears to show that the captain shot the girl in cold blood. The official account claimed that Iman was shot as she walked towards an army post with her schoolbag because soldiers feared she was carrying a bomb. But the tape recording of the radio conversation between soldiers at the scene reveals that, from the beginning, she was identified as a child and at no point was a bomb spoken about nor was she described as a threat. Iman was also at least 100 yards from any soldier. Instead, the tape shows that the soldiers swiftly identified her as a "girl of about 10" who was "scared to death". The tape also reveals that the soldiers said Iman was headed eastwards, away from the army post and back into the refugee camp, when she was shot. At that point, Captain R took the unusual decision to leave the post in pursuit of the girl. He shot her dead and then "confirmed the kill" by emptying his magazine into her body." Zionists killing in the name of Yahweh.

If the Jericho story has any truth to it then it’s probably about a sapping crew, they would dig tunnels under walls using flammable supports so when set afire the tunnel collapses and the wall falls, a noisy endeavor so work some kind of annoying ritual outside to prevent detection. The last few days would be loudest because they set pigs on fire and had them run the tunnels to light them, good trumpet time.

Speaking of stories, do you know about the YT channel TheBibleReloaded? It would be cool if you read a Chick Tract story with them.

FDK I like the idea, but the Vibes are too different. I don't think that they would mesh well together in a show.

"Deny me before man, I will deny you before My Father" by shielding the stories from your children...isn't that denying Yahweh?

I am beginning to think that the guy's who wrote the old testament took another look at it and thought it was a bit horrific and bloody, and thought, lets write something more meek and mild and call it the new testament.

Bible the Barbarian was too violent for the kiddies, so they made Bible the Destroyer, LOL.

Someone should make a Death metal band to make albums based off of the horrors of the bible. First album, Genesis.

Is there also an ebook version of bedtime bible stories? Since I don't live in the usa, it would be kinda too expensive to let it be shipped across the ocean.

You forgot Sampson who kills twenty for their clothes to repay a debt. God loved Sampson and saw nothing wrong with this. Let some guy try this today and he would get life in prison or the death penalty.
