I agree that this wouldn't have been the same song if Jon had released it and no it wouldn't have had the same audience. I do lean towards the singer/ songwriter artists so that's probably why I'm being a little judgey. 🤷♀️

Dammit Ernest, I’m not a fan of Bieber’s music. But now that you’re full time, I promised myself I’d watch and like every video even if I don’t like the artist. That being said, I loved this song. The thing I’m most impressed with though is the fact that the military uniform is put together correctly. Too often I see smaller budget and even some blockbusters messing this up. Flag is on the correct side (facing backwards to symbolize the flag blowing in the wind while we charge forward in battle, much like our ancestors of old when they carried actual flags on the field. The name tapes are on the correct side. U.S. Army goes on the left side of the uniform, over the heart to symbolize teamwork over individuality. Last name on the right side. As for the unit patches. The patch on the right side of the uniform is called a combat patch, signifying you’ve spent time in a combat zone. That particular one he has is the Special Forces unit patch (Green Berets). So he either A: was in that unit at one point when they deployed, or B: deployed in support of that unit. There are rules for that, which are tedious and don’t need to be gone over here but just know that wearing a combat patch doesn’t mean you were in that unit, it can also mean you helped support that unit. The one on the left side of the uniform is called your unit patch, and it shows what unit you are currently in. That one is one of the more recognizable ones. That is the 101st Airborne Division “Screaming Eagles”. Each unit has a motto, and the 101st’s is my favorite. “Rendezvous With Destiny”. They got that motto when they were activated during WWII. In the speech, the general told the soldiers “The 101st Airborne Division, which was activated on 16 August 1942, at Camp Claiborne, Louisiana, has no history, but it has a rendezvous with destiny.” And they surely did. Conducting airborne operations during the D-Day invasion. Taking key bridges, holding the enemy from advancing to the beachhead so the soldiers landing could have enough time to clear through the defenses and create a proper staging point. Above the unit patch on the left side you can see several tabs. My phone is too small to properly make them out. But it looks like he had three, so I’d assume they are the big three most elite soldiers have. Airborne, Ranger, and Special Forces. Each tab shows other people they are around that they have completed the necessary training to wear it. Some people mix up the ranger tab and the ranger scroll. The scroll is a unit patch, while the tab is leadership school that select individuals can attend. Both are a kick in the nuts from what I’ve heard (I’m not high speed enough to want to go through that abuse). Lastly, I imagine this SSG/SFC (can’t tell if there are one or two rockers on that rank) is coming back from the field. Anywhere from a couple days to a couple weeks, where you practice key techniques needed for deployments. If he was coming back from an actual deployment there is usually a lot more pomp and circumstance. Family’s meet you at the military airfield or in a large building close by. Just a guess though. Maybe he is midway through deployment and came home to surprise his family (my dad did that during Christmas back in 03 on his first deployment). Although normally you don’t travel in uniform anymore because it has started to make us targets when traveling. This song was dope. I’ve been away from my wife for 25 months now. I just got orders to come back to the state’s and I am so excited about that. So this song just hit different.
@TheThirdErnest4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate your sacrifice. I used to work at USAA and obviously it’s a huge deal there. I know so much military lingo and acronyms you would think I served lol. But yes I appreciate the details to the fatigues as well. Sooooooo many videos or movies get it wrong. Flag wrong side, pointing the wrong direction, etc. Detail matters
