My first two “serious” watches were two Tissots that I purchased from a grey-market dealer who’s name rhymes with Homa-Pop. They’re great. I’m not sure I’d go grey-market again but it worked out. I think Tissot, much like Certina and Hamilton, offer a ton of bang-for-the-buck at the entry level price point of Swiss watches.

Tend to agree with the conclusion. Modern Tissot designs are nowhere compared to old Seastars and Visodates. And the best thing about them is you can pick them up for around 50 USD.

While I love my modern visodate, the problem with modern watches are people and their misaligned concept of masculinity. People aren’t willing to buy small watches and so companies have to enlarge their watches to sizes made for Andre the giant.

I got that one from my father yesterday but the manual version. Love it! keep time and looks AWSOME!! He had several old vintage watches. No Rolex or Omega but Citizen and Tissot, even found my own old Casio vintage A160 I had back in early 1980... Good times there...

I have a Tissot Seastar chronograph with the Lemania 1281/Cal 871 from the late 60s early 70s. It is THE watch that got me into watches as a kid when my dad would give it to me to play with and i would time stuff with the stopwatch. It's one of the watches that actually gets compliments because its so unique and retro now.

I know this is VERY late but I have a Tissot Visodate Automatic Seastar PR516 with the original 'steering wheel' bracelet which I bought new in London in 1967 for the then huge sum of £27.00 . . . I was an art student but HAD to have it. I love it now as much as I loved it back then and, with servicing every 5 years (no new parts required), it still keeps nearly perfect time. Despite having several other watches, I still wear it a lot as, some 55 years on, it feels a part of me. Hope you read this, even though it's three years late!

I have Sonorous PR-516 manual wind that was a friend’s great-uncle’s watch. It is missing the rotating elapsed time bezel, but it doesn’t look too weird without it. The alarm works well. The original strap/bracelet was long gone, so I put an inexpensive bracelet on it for now.

Great vintage watch! I really like the unusually-shaped date window, it adds a lot of character to the watch, as do several other subtle details. It was particularly interesting to see how well a small watch fit on a larger wrist--it looks great, especially on that NATO strap. Thanks for the great overview; I always look forward to your vids!

I just bought yesterday Vostok amphibia (38mm) from 1982. I have Omikron field watch from 60's and very nice lady Doxa (22mm) from 50's. I love history aura of vintage watches that you can almost feel coming out of watch. There is a wast selection of affordable pre-quartz Swiss, German and former USSR brands in my country and still few older watch collectors who sells their vintage collections from 40's to 80's.

So this is weird. I’ve followed the channel for awhile now, but never have seen this episode. Until now. The day after I inherited two vintage watches, an Omega Seamaster and, you guessed it, a handsome Tissot. What’s more, your name is Jory Goodman and I’m Jon Goodman. And we both have 7 1/2 inch wrists. Which has me wondering...I’m, are we related? 😂
