As a former LEGOLAND California employee I can clear up some misconceptions and answer some of your questions! 1. You CAN paint LEGO bricks (they're painted like cars are) and the bricks in the parks are repainted every few years unless bricks are broken or chipped. Then the structure is rebuilt because parts of LEGO structures can't be replaced due to the bricks being glued together. 2. You had the right idea by capitalizing LEGO in your title, but actually the entire name LEGOLAND is capitalized! It's to make it more noticeable in writing. 3. The cars at Driving School are electric! You're right! They have to be charged every few hours so they're interchanged with ones that are set aside throughout the day. They also have radio receivers in them to make them stop driving when the ride time is over. 4. For the days when you want a not busy water park, go at the very beginning or very end of the season. In California the water park opens in March and closes in October. 5. In my opinion LEGOLAND has food that rivals Disneyland, and I love Disneyland food! 6. The snake people on the face painting sign ARE bad guys from LEGO Ninjago! They're the main villains in the show, whereas in the movie the main villain is Lloyd's dad, Lord Garmaddon. 7. The wait for a shorter line time for the Great LEGO Race will be a while, give it about a month or two and it should be down to fifteen minutes or so! That's how long it's taken the past few new rides at LEGOLAND California to get shorter line times. 8. Fun LEGO fact: the word "legos" isn't correct. LEGO is the brand name, so everything LEGO has LEGO in front of it, but the items themselves aren't called LEGO! For example, LEGO bricks, LEGO baseplates, LEGO Ninjago, LEGO rides, LEGO minifigures, etc... Some fun facts about the discrepancies between parks! -those dinos at the entrance of LEGOLAND FL are actually part of a ride in CA, it's called Coast Cruise and it shows off some really impressive LEGO sculptures! -the double decker carousel is exclusive to FL. CA has a carousel as well but it's in Heartlake City and it's called Mia's Riding Camp! -CA also has a closed down ride that let you see the whole park! It was closed due to the wait time being disproportionate to ride time. It always had a really long wait and the ride time was very short. -CA is has a new LEGOLAND Hotel opening soon if it hasn't already. It's castle themed! The rooms in the original Hotel that were castle themed were rethemed to either LEGO City or Ninjago, I'm not sure. -LEGOLAND FL is bigger than LEGOLAND CA, however LEGOLAND CA came first! It opened in 1998 and was the second ever LEGOLAND in the world! The first being in Denmark where LEGO was founded! -Project X, now the Great LEGO Race at FL, is still Project X in CA. LEGOLAND CA has more annual visitors than FL so LEGO does all its testing of revamped rides at FL and if they're deemed successful they're brought here! Similar to Walt Disney World vs Disneyland with some rides. -Last I heard (it might be different now) LEGOLAND CA had the most LEGO bricks in a single park in the WORLD! (With just over 3 TRILLION bricks! Wow!)

I also believe that the LEGO bricks are made of ABS and not PEHD which Tim tried to say "HDPE" (Close Tim :D). But in a few years they will go over and use a eco-friendly plastic more like PLA.

So glad they still have some of the old Cypress Gardens. Including the water skiing. I went there when I was in 8th grade back in the early 70's. It was wonderful. And we did sit on the grass and watch the show. Good memories.

Fun fact: the great Lego race was originally at legoland Windsor in england and was known as "the jungle coaster" however, noise complaints made the ride to close. The Merlin entertainments group eventually decided to move over to legoland Florida and retheme it to project X.

Amazing how much that coaster has changed! Rode it at Legoland Windsor back when it was called Jungle Coaster and had plastic cages over the cars, then rode it when it moved to Florida and it was so much better being outside!

LEGOland looks like a fun park to visit. I just thought of a Disney World challenge you could do. Ride all of the mountain rides in one day. Yes, I know there aren't many, but it would be something to do. The mountain rides I can think of are...Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Mine Train (not mountain in the title, but it has a mountain theme to it) and Everest. So it might be tougher since you would have to travel to different parks, but I'm sure it could be done. :)

I think I recall reading a recent Amusement Today article where the park stated it won’t be operating the sky tower anymore due to its age. So it’s permanently closed. It was a part of Cypress Gardens before it became Legoland. These old tower rides are becoming a thing of the past.

That coaster is actually a very old coaster they moved from Legoland Windsor in the UK, apparently they received many noise complaints about the rollercoaster so they replaced it ans sent it here.
