November 30 will mark 2 years since my lil' George (Chihuaha) passed away. - Grief is like the ocean; it comes in waves, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes the water is calm, and sometimes it is overwhelming. All we can do is learn to swim. That is the most accurate description of grief I've ever come across.

Having lost my dog really unexpectedly over quarantine, I can relate to those feelings. I was just missing him tonight when I clicked on this video. The tree up on thanksgiving thing is so nostalgic for me. My papa use to put the tree up while the family was eating and once everyone left he and I would decorate it together. I haven’t had a tree up since he passed but I love seeing other people get into that tradition. It’s so much fun. 💙💀💙

My grandparents always put it up the Friday or Saturday after. At some point, the tree got wrapped in linen ornaments and all for storage, so all we have to do is bring it up, unwrap it, and plug it in.

Tim dropping the plate...all of us at one time....lol...and sometimes you just get sad thinking of memories with your pets. I had to say goodbye to my toy poodle right before Christmas 2 years ago and I always get sad around this time. They never leave your heart.

While the cast iron skillet does indeed make the best steak, we stopped doing it that way b/c of the smoke. We put a bit of salt and pepper on the steaks, seared them in the skillet, and put them in the oven to cook. When they come out of the oven, we put a pat of butter on them while they rested for a few minutes. Delicious steakhouse steaks! Happy Holidays!

Just a mom to mom question (not judging): I noticed you guys feed Jackson pieces one at a time. I wondered why. Does he thow his food on the floor or cram too much into his mouth. Most 1 year olds can pick up pieces to feed themselves and some can take little bites of bigger things, like toast strips or pancakes. Its good practice for the pincer grip and hand eye coordination. I'm not at all trying to rush you, and you should of course do what feels right as parents. I know sometimes first time parents don't know that kind of stuff if no one tells them, especially if they aren't around other babies on the regular.

Awww, Jenn! I feel you, girl. I roasted the turkey wings to make stock on Wednesday, I pulled them out and cut the meat off. I looked at the plate of turkey, and the bowl of veggies, and lost it because my best dog wasn't there for me to give it to. He's been gone for 6 years, but never in the 10 years we had him, did I make turkey stock. I felt so guilty for not doing it while he was alive because it was so easy. I had a rough day, too. We called the grand parents, but we lost the last great grandparent last year, and I was just hurting for the nostalgia of the family gathering at her house on holidays, even though we'ven't lived near the family in years and usually celebrate with just our immediate family. Just the knowledge that we couldn't call, or show up to a done dinner made me ache. And then there's always the mom thing, but you know about that. That hole is always there and sometimes it gets ripped back open when the other stuff feels so empty. Hold on to the memories and cry when you need to. Love ya!

I cried Jen when you got emotional about Bandit, my dog is getting older and i treasure every moment with her. I think times like Thanksgiving are times when you do look back to things like those loved ones that you miss and our dogs are so much part of the family and we all miss Bandit too. Please don't ever apologise about getting emotional about that, we watch your life and we don't expect it to be all smiles and happiness all the time, that's not real life. Lots of love xxx

3 u guys! Steak... use a cast iron skillet (seasoned) get it rippin hot... place your seasoned steak in it... let it sear... do not move it until it sears. Once seared... flip it and sear the other side. Then place in the preheated oven or grill and cook until med rare. Perfection! The sear will keep the juices inside to create a decadent steak. We like a good rib eye with blue cheese. Try it... its good! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I had to put my sweet girl Stella down last Friday, it was such a difficult Thanksgiving for us as well. I understand with having a hard day on thanksgiving. It was the first thanksgiving without my grandma and last thanksgiving I was sick crying to her and she told me that she wished there was something she could do for me as she was in hospice. There’s nothing I wouldn’t do to get that time back with her.

My husband cooks our steaks in a cast iron too. Oven on 500 degrees. Veggie oil in the skillet. Brown on the stove for 3 mins each side. Then in the oven, 7 mins on each side. Happy Turkey day! :)

What you want to do with a steak of that size is a reverse sear. Bake it on a low temp for an hour or so (until it reaches the desired temp). Then, quickly sear it on all sides.

In 2019, we lost both our twin cats (Tigger and Cannelle) who were literally born on my lap and hand-reared by us 13 years earlier and our 4year old dwarf rabbit (Pablo) . It was dreadful and extremely sad. We had our 7 yo ginger cat left luckily and adopted 2 lovely Rescue kittens from our animal shelter at the end of the year. But the pets we lost, we still talk about them every day and they stay loved and with us in spirit.

Love your videos, and have never commented, but I have some good skillet steak advice for you! Get a sous vide cooker. Sous vide is a water bath cooking method that allows you to get your meats to a precise level of doneness. If you like your steaks medium, you can set your sous vide cooker to 140 degrees for 2 hours, then just sear them on your skillet for 1 minute a side. I guarantee it will be the best steak you ever had!

We lost one of our cats during quarantine and this is my first Christmas without him in 16 years. So I totally get it. Gonna be a tough one, especially once the tree is up and the other cats start sleeping under it, cause that was always his favorite part of the holiday. You wouldn’t be human if you didn’t have feelings. And yes Tim!!! You do have feelings. In skillet you did fine. 2 min each side and then 350 oven to temperature. But you do need to sear the meat. Great first thanksgiving!!! I was alone 💕
